In tribute to the last couple of days on the tour I did a north London mountain tour. Unfortunately on the mountain bike, as the Jake is still sans wheel.

Warm up round Archway & a nice climb up Hazellville road, then up Dartmouth Park Hill (~1.4km/56m) to Highgate, then 4 reps up Swains Lane (~0.95km/69m / ~4:30) and then Highate West Hill (~0.95km/65m) to finish.

Followed by a trip up to Ally Pally to pickup festival wristband, then a spot of downhill MTB fun in the park, then home via Finsbury Park.

Had some motivation on the Swains Lane reps with a roadie not far ahead on the first 3 reps, and was enjoying the downhills more on my P7 with its disk brakes & front sus!

Cycling at speed into a pedestrian, standing like a rabbit in the headlights in the middle of the road, does not really make for going training afterwards as planned.

I went over the top and onto my bag/shoulder and ended up entangled in bike. Lovely grazes to arm & shoulder, bit of pain in the shoulder, and a really tight calf.

He came off worse, quite a deep cut to the head and quite dazed, so off to hospital. I had a long walk home with the bike.

Another rest day, but after a night drinking & dancing at a wedding, and sore feet (maybe a bit too much barefoot/minimal running this week) it was needed.

Despite this week being a bit slack, has been a decent month of getting back into training & racing. There aren't any more races planned for a good few weeks, aside from the midweek burn ups, so another couple of weeks getting some base miles in on foot & bike before getting my arse in gear for two months from mid July...
