the long loop at L&C with M. very icy and poorly lit by my weeny headlamp. glad i made it through in one piece.
10 AM
Bike3:30:00 [3] 40.0 mi (11.4 mph)
gravel grinder out in hermann with the cx bike. lots of fun climb and very kind riders who waited for my slow self. just another occasion where the stl cycling community proves to be chock full of good souls.
to celebrate turning twenty-freakin-seven, i took an easy solo road ride out to west county. got to enjoy the pfoodman discount at lone wolf and ride one of my favorite roads (shepard) the easy way and then came back on ladue. happy birthday to me.
4 PM
Run27:00 [3] 3.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
and tacked on a brick run through FP to soak up more sunshine.
took the cx bike out to meet the ICCC guys. only, there was one guy and the hamburg/katy was covered in ruts. we made it to matson hill and decided to make a shortened lollipop. still no shortage of climb and lots of bike handling practice.
solo snow ride at c-wood before tri club group trail run. stuck to the flats.
9 AM
Run45:00 [3] 4.5 mi (10:00 / mi)
tri club group run. out on the flats, up the stairs, down lone wolf switchbacks, then some of the dirt crits loop. super fun. also J brought hot chocolate for afterwards.
10 AM
Bike (mtb) 1:00:00 [3] 8.0 mi (8.0 mph)
more snow biking, this time with some converted triathletes. went up the north side of the park and gave the core muscles quite a workout.
not sure why i went back to the pool after yesterday. but i did for a tiny swim. and was reminded of a quotation from one of the weirdest books i've ever read:
"you've got to get obsessed and stay obsessed" --John Irving
8 PM
Bike (Trainer) 1:30:00 [3]
and then hopped on the bike to make it a well-rounded day.
gravel ride on the cx bike with a bunch of ICCC guys. lots of climb. i was the slowest but they were extremely kind and waited for me at intersections. and told good jokes:
Q. What did the cat say when his tail got caught in the lawnmower? A. It won't be long now!
