CLARO Yorkshire Superleague, Lindley Moor. Short Brown, 6.0km, 110m.
I knew this was going to be a rough grotty forest and had very low expectations. Unfortunately the event failed to live up to even these low expectations. The main issue was the standard of the map which was like something from the 1970's. I could have coped if the controls were in the right place but no.4 was out by about 100m. I spent about 10 mins hunting a vague area of forest (and re-attacking from various directions) before giving up. I then found it on the way to no.5. My split for no.4 was 14 mins (identical to Heather Monro - what was she doing there?!) and then no.5 took 1.02 for what should have been a 250m leg! After this I carried on at training pace, enjoying the few nice bits of forest. I contrived to do the loop between no.6 and no.10 in the wrong direction (correcting myself and hence a long split to no.7). All very disappointing. I hope there weren't too many newcomers at the event.
Finished 3 mins down on Heather, both having lost almost identical time on the misplaced control. Dickie was pleased that he didn't run and so avoided getting beaten by the wife!

It would have been a good race if I'd not gone 6 to 9....

Edit: results now revised, taking out splits before and after offending control.
