I'm hoping it was in my head.

Frankly I find the suggestion that there is anything in Charlie's head quite preposterous.

Whatever used to be there stopped working properly some time ago...

I'm sure my head decides to tell me something's niggling.

And this is why: when sometghing subsequently goes properly wrong, the "niggle" often (OK, not always....) miraculously fades away..... when its been usurped.

Middle aged mental degeneration, I reckon.
