Not a nice long one out on the roads today. Felt awful when I woke up and kept falling back to sleep. Got out in the morning without really eating anything to go for a longer one pre-breakfast but it didn’t work out quite so well. Warm enough for t-shirt and shorts but even trying to go a little bit faster got me so tired and I took a couple of stops on the way.

Think the combination of a lot of hours training this week and no food for a while brought me down. I’ll be back with a proper long tempo soon enough.

Alpages des Blatieres from home. Really tricky towards the top in some deep and exposed snow - pace slowed to a crawl at that point. Worth going out late for an insane sunset and a good part of the run under he headtorch. Faster descent towards the end brought some pace back too.

Another late easy one. Pace is going well this week and just sticking to the roads. Aiming to get back on track with a routine soon enough.

XC Skiing 43:38 [2] 8.84 km (12.2 kph) +197m
ahr:111 max:142 rhr:49 slept:9.0 shoes: Fischer RCS Skate 2017

More on the technique with Pete. Stayed in the forest lumps of the Argentière track and kept it pretty slow to focus on technique a lot more. Coming much better today.

Late one getting out on the roads in Chamonix. Felt like I needed to get it in and felt great on the run so kept it going for a bit longer. Easy stuff still.

XC Skiing 1:15:43 [2] 16.56 km (13.1 kph) +295m
ahr:124 max:165 rhr:47 slept:9.0 shoes: Fischer RCS Skate 2017

First time back to he XC skis for a long while at the hilly loop in Argentière. Technique was all over the place but speed seemed okay. Uphills and downhill corners doing the worst but a good day to be out.

Easy up to the Mer de Glace. Tough stuff on the crusty snow trying to stay in the footprints but got it done in some really good weather. Easy enough to do at Christmas and still the same amazing views off the top.

Grands Montets. Good stuff at the top but much more icy on the pistes - only went on the piste once and that was to get off the mountain. Good snow on the Bol side.

Tough on the legs and was very fatigued by the end. Enjoyed it on Christmas :)

Lifts closed again today so easy on the roads in the rain. Aiming for much more cross-training this week when the cross country ski tracks are sorted and the lifts are open again.
