Elite sprint!!!
Was a little shaky at the start and messed up on 2, lost 20-23s. I did not see the opening and ran around the hedge. The rest went really well, think I made all the right route choices. Just could not keep the speed after control 20 and died. 2 guys beat me by 1 second....gotta work on my kick. Really fun experience, so many people watching and cheering, came 53rd overall.

By far one of, if not the hardest race I have ran. Legs are exhausted. Took it slower to #1 for obvious reasons. to 3 I doubled back bc I thought I had a bad exit, clearly did not. Got to hang on to some guys for a bit but I made the mistake of not reading my map or compass. So we went on to the trail to 6. I would have just went right on. So when I run past the field and they dart into the woods, I was very confused. Had absolutely no idea where I was and took a few minutes to figure it out. Took a bad route choice to 9. Made a massive mistake on 11, misread the yellow marsh as the yellow bit and had to backout to the trail;( After 12 my legs were done for. 2 went really well too. Did a little better placement wise so, there's that.

Not the greatest start to a 5 day competition, and definitely not a great start to the race either. Messed up 5 minutes or so on 1. Should have stayed in the marsh but I got pulled up on to the hill and ended up having to retrace to get it. 2, 5 and 6 went really well. Another mistake at 8, got drawn too far to the left. 9 was good just until the last 15 meters. Small mistake at 11, lost concentration on the trail... Another big mistake at 12. 14 got caught too high. 17 just ran to another control before:/
Overall a little discouraged but no where to go but hopefully up.

Training map. Went out w Sudden. Very pretty woods but difficult. One little mistake early on but the rest was solid. Got a new compass, hopefully I will use it.

Had Per running behind me. Really open terrain. Made a 30s mistake at 5-> had my head down and did not see the very obvious tree. Small couple second hooks at 5 and 9. Bit of a hesitation going to 13. Bit of a bigger mistake going to 15-> had a bad bearing leaving the previous control, maybe lost a minute or so. Overall, pretty pleased, just have to work on slowing down at the start. My compass is really shaky (like the needle moves left and right constantly).

Went out to do 2 Strava segments. Think I ran through a few people's properties and took a few wrong turns. However, the mission was a success even if one of the segments have 1 minute of me walking. Also took a nice dip at the end- the water never felt warmer.
