I know what you mean. I'm very happy with my twin 44:52s from 1982 & 1984. My goals are very different now.

@BerOwra that's very impressive, must have given you a good placing on both occasions. My 52'04" was from 2001, so at 39 I was already on the wane, should have come to Australia earlier. Goal now is simply not to get injured so I can enjoy both O and running in general!

yes I gave up the Perth C2S (which is Sunday week) when I went over an hour from my best days in the 80s when I did 48 something, just missed cracking 4min kms

Also it is not fun with best part of 40,000 people now in the Perth edition!

I think the 1984 effort got me 16th place (when I was 24). There is certainly more depth in the top 20/50/100 now than in the 'old' days. I'm not sure that my achilles would enjoy 14km on bitumen anymore.
