Pedalled over to see my grandparents in Bamford.
Not sure if its the road quality or me on a road bike, I was very slow descending. I reckon its the road as I had to slow down on some of the climbs to avoid potholes and patchy tarmac.

I was doing M/W120+ with my mum and dad. The format was funny this year. I did the Medium and then when I got back I did the extra loop. We thought it was first team back, not cumulative time, should have done the long + loop.

Med- 27:05. First to number 1 (20s mistake, came in too early from the track). Slight hesitation at 6. British army guy got away, Steve Dempsey tried to but I ended up leaving him behind.
Final Loop- 13:21 had visited all but 1 of the controls before this weekend. Came in too early on 3 (parallel error).

Got stuck slightly going to 2, 11 and 13. Missed 5 a bit (no bearing). Pleased with RC to 7 though I was slightly high.
Only real mistake was 12 where I just wandered in and hoped for the best, probably lost around 2 min.

Quite enjoyed the course, probably a first at Gilling. Poor control 11, didn't have any plan to get there. Carl caught me around then.

Wasn't feeling at all fit on the warm up but felt quite good in the forest.

No-one ran with me on my route, probably because it was so bad. Knocked it off after the first big mistake, at 48 when i couldn't find the fence or any feature really. Overshot 60, bad route into 59 - missed it. Missed 41 and carried on to 40 before attacking back to find it. Stopped too early 42.

I was 4s late so lost 5 points, somehow ended up 3rd overall, ha.

I was taking it steady to be kind to my feet. Once I got into it it was good fun, Redmires is a great little area. Ran fast on the final few to capitalise on someones mistake.

Enjoyed the first few controls until my fitness caught up with me, I was also getting blisters by this point so I decided to jog/walk back at around control 11. John caught me up and I tried to stick with him for a few controls but it wasn't worth running through the blisters. Disappointing fitness today but navigation was spot on so thats something.

Loch of Boath.

Was very rusty, felt fast in the first half but bogged down after 12. Made a couple of careless mistakes and a bad route choice meaning I lost about 6min. Looking forward to tomorrow.
