Wee jog round the woods with J late afternoon. Not feeling very bouncy so headed back leaving J to head out towards the fields and the meanest bird in Deeside. He met him:

Running intervals 23:00 [5]

Ran out to Pitmurchie road via tracks and then did 12 x 1' + 1' to the top of the hill (gentle angle). Feeling a bit lethargic but improved as it went on.

Running warm up/down 42:00 [3]

Out to start of intervals and back through the woods. Managed to avoid the buzzies.

Time for a short run round the woods when I got home. Got buzzed again by a different beast - just down the hill on the way to the waterfall. They'll be attacking us in our garden next ;-{

Various bits of running around - hanging last few controls, taping to start and control collecting after. Enjoyed picking up the free hanging ones on the hill. Seemed to go fine, if a bit thin on the organisational front. Courses seemed about right, except light green which was either too long or too difficult (or else normal light greens are too easy ;-}). Folk found the going tougher than I expected, but the bracken and undergrowth had really come up in the last week.

Control hanging at Ballogie. Not much running. Feeling v tired and glad of J's help. Out for ~90'.

Feeling a bit wobbly this morning

Straight after pilates, just as the rain came on. Anti-clockwise lap of the perimeter of Coull mostly on tracks and road but a few overgrown bits. Went steady but not feeling brilliant. Had a nice 5 min pause for a scooby snack at the quarry pond. Tired by end but put in a 5' effort to remind me what it feels like.

Running 25:00 [2]

Was meant to be doing some speedwork while E at Beavers but lost my watch and then realised I'd left the curry on. So went back to Dess and headed out into the woods. Rapidly realised I was exhausted and settled for a relaxing jog. Unfortunately the new terror of the woods had other ideas and after a first attack just before crossing into the field, buzzed me several times in quick succession. Felt my hair ruffled on the 6th attack and thereafter took to running backwards waving my arms in the air. Was escorted all the way back across the fields with 15-20 more swoops, most of which I managed to divert before he got too close. Actually a bit scary and probably enough to keep me away from that part of the woods for a while.

Railway intervals from home. 5 x 4' + 2'. Not exactly flying but better than I thought it would be at the start. Got to just keep churning them out...

Out the long way by Ian's and back by the old road bridge.
Will be good when the DW connects up. Coming soon.... maybe!

Mountain biking 56:00 [3]

From home, Pitmurchie rd, S Footie, N Footie, P'mchie, mansion house, fields and woods. Mixture of road and tracks. Really nice route, no traffic and varied biking. Thoroughlly enjoyed it and legs felt pretty good - must do more biking.

Long run with J from junction at Ballogie, by tracks to Glen Cat, up far side to caper enclosure, along to Corsedarder monument, up hill to open, down to valley bottom by Ballogie woods and back through forest / fields to start. Good run. Especially good view from high point in fields above the car.

Embarassing instability on my lunges and was the only one who couldn't kneel to do one exercise - otherwise good.

With J along to Potties and out to the far end of Ballogie to get a few blobs of green added to the map, then home again.

Last of the forest sprints at Newmillhill. Never been there before - was surprisingly pleasant.

5 x 4' + 2' on the DW from Aboyne past the gliding strip. Feeling really lethargic. First one was rubbish but they improved after that.

Orienteering race 1:29:00 [4]

SOL 4 at Culbin. Legs feeling very tired. Knew it would be a bit of a plod and it was, but managed to plod pretty well in the right direction. Just a few hesitations / wobbles in the circle. Was enjoying it as long as my brain was needed, but not the long bits in between.

Lossie urban race. Ran pretty clean and really enjoyed it. Legs felt tired from last night but coped ok, probably a good thing it was mostly flat.

Good warm up around the play area with E and then to the start. Managed a wee jog at the finish too.

From home to S Greens on the DW then a loop through the forest to rejoin outward route further down and home. Got really bad cramp / stitch in my right side on the climb. Went away eventually but came back again after the killer hill near Kinker. Not pleasant and not sure what caused it - pilates / dehydration ?? Otherwise enjoyable.

Bell Wood forest sprint. Legs felt great - cycling must have helped. Either that or the coffee. Compass work wasn't so hot.

Escaped early enough for a run from the east end up to the mast on Hill of Fare. Up the long way at a relaxed pace then straight back down. Never seen the bog so dry or the descent gully so pleasant. Felt better for the exercise.

Quads still written off from Friday, so plans of Scolty scuppered. Generally feeling pretty wiped out and not looking forward to the next few days.

From Stableyard round the 2 bridges at Glen Tanar with J and E. E coping well with the rocky tracks and hills. Sore bum.

Hadn't planned a big sesh for today, but seemed too nice an opportunity to miss....
Cycled in to near Loch Builg from Glen Gairn (1 hour) and back out again after Ben Avon (45 mins downhill with a tail wind) with J
11 AM

Running 2:10:00 [3]

Then headed on foot up Ben Avon. Didn't push the pace but picked up a good wee track and made reasonable time to the plateau, but decided we would be pushing it on the way back (to get E from school) if we went to the summit tor, so turned back at the big tor to the east. Up in 80 mins and back to the bikes in 50. Saw grice and ptarmigan chicks.
Cracking day. 27C and wall to wall blue skies ;-}

Then stopped for a dip at Cambus bridge on the way back - perfect.

Orienteering 23:00 [3]

Forest sprint at Tollo Hill. Wasn't going to bother with this but J wanted to do it and I'd been given a brikke before I knew it. Forgot my shoes (obviously really didn't want to do it) but was firmly told my walking shoes would be fine! Actually quite enjoyed it even if I wasn't moving very fast.

Countesswells pace run. Did 2 x same loop as last time but with an extra 2' at the start. Was a bit slower this time ~10:30 per lap instead of 10:00

Felt sluggish on the way out and knackered on the way back!
