Brown Y middle distance course at Georgia Navigator Cup (GNC) at Red Top Mountain state park; 2.7km, 100m climb nominal.

This was going to be the warm rainy day, but despite the weather forecasts and radar, it was cold, rainy, and breezy, though no 45mph gusts that we might have had. Heard a couple claps of thunder but that was it. About 43 with a 40F "feels like" temp.

Decent navigation, taking safe routes for the most part; I didn't attempt any lakeshore routes as I didn't know how mucky they might be. Non spikes were #2 (pit mapped location didn't match terrain in my opinion), #11, where I left the road too early and had to climb back up and cross the driveway; and #12, where I reached the road closer to the start than I expected, but I recovered quickly. I might have been a few minutes faster but this was relatively clear.

My route (mostly), with 7-8 along the ride, not off to the side as drawn

1st F on Brown Y, 3rd overall behind M80s Bob Bullions and Francis Hogle (only 1:20+/- behind Francis). I do like Middles

Travel day. Track is a little wonky because we were in a gorge and under an arch high enough to fit the Statue of Liberty; we stayed on the N side of the creek. I edited the climb (it was 236m before) to match Glens watch's number.

We stopped for a break and a hike at Natural Bridge SP in VA. We bought tickets, climbed down a staircase to the creek level (Cedar Creek--there a lot of cedars in the gorge) where the temperature dropped at least 10 degrees from 56F at the parking lot, looked at the arch, the Lost River (a stream that comes out of a cave in the side of the hill), Lace Falls, and the saltpeter cave which was mined during the wars in the 1800s for making gunpowder; and back up to the visitors center.

After seeing Lace Falls and turning around we stopped to talk to a couple whom we'd passed, on the way up to the falls, at the cave; turns out they live a couple towns away from us in Pennsylvania!

On the drive up to the park from I-81, I saw some unique sculptured heads along a fence at this business; they're visible in street view if you look at this location on a map. Very unusual!

More streets in S Whitehall... oops, missed one (the rest of Meadow Ln near the 3km marker). Low 40s and mostly cloudy.

Local streets after the snow; mid 30s and cloudy.

We had maybe 3" of snow, but as the temperature warms up it's compressing. Rain in the forecast for Tuesday.

Note
(rest day)

As opposed to Wednesday and Thursday when I don't usually have time for exercise, today's an actual rest day because I can still feel the hip work from yesterday's yoga session. Maybe tomorrow I can get out, after the weather system clears out and roads are cleaned up.
