Orienteering race 50:11 [3] 5.74 km (8:45 / km) +111m 7:59 / km

Ran the H3 Course at Gunapin. Despite being the controller and having visited all the controls on Thursday still managed to make a mess of #5. Ian Fletcher caught me there. Took off on the long leg to 6 and was close to catching Ian, but thought it was not right to get ahead so slowed down a bit (not much) and let him lead, stopped for a lost teenager between 7 and 8 and took a bit to locate exactly where I was as I was going for the fence and not too worried about exactly where I was.

Ian screwed up 8 but I stopped and let him get ahead.

Skipped the last control to force a MP

Anthea had a super fast time at 39 minutes, and claimed a 1-2 minute mistake.

Last WA Bush-O until next year but a decent run before the COC

Running 33:06 [4] 5.77 km (5:44 / km) +75m 5:23 / km
shoes: Blue Asics

Heavy showers so delayed start until a fine spell and managed a more or less dry run. Lots of puddles on the paths in Kings Park but very few people. Only saw two walkers then a couple of small kids having great time in a puddle on the track out to the end of Aberdare Rd.

Ran the opposite way to normal.

Orienteering 3:43:20 [3] 17.0 km (13:08 / km) +300m 12:04 / km

Very early start to get to Gunapin for 8:00am to meet John & Jenny and Nick the farmer. Good news no farmer at the gate!! He turned up about an hour later as there were two gates and it was poorly described.

Helped put out a few controls and some water before checking the remaining ones.

Nice wild flowers coming into bloom especially in the unfarmed section of the map, where the orchids were everywhere. Also spotted a nice red robin

Running 47:46 [3] 8.12 km (5:53 / km) +115m 5:30 / km

Nice run in Kings Park, temperature just right for running. Thought about a full lap but cut of at the Rotunda 2 and back across the middle.

Long enough and hopefully longer the O races in Canada which start in 10 days

Shelley Bridge, light SE wind made it a bit faster on the way back than the way out. Also got a tow for a km on the freeway but when the guy dropped another gear and went from 37 to 40 I said bye bye!
