Road Running (My NYC Marathon) 3:39:00 [3] 42.2 km (5:11 / km)
shoes: Saucony Progrid(Blue)

Scuppered by Sandy Marathon:
Not the race intended, not the race wanted, not the time intended but what the heck. Had to do something.

4 laps of Central Park, just like the original course...well similar I guess. Very grateful for dc's company for the first three laps. He must have run the slowest 29 consecutive Kms he ever has.

First three laps with no water so ran back to the hotel in 87th St at the end of lap 3 to get some. Didn't fancy 26 miles with no water. Didn't eat enough gels either.

So many people out running, amazing. This part of Manhattan is completely back to normal as far as I can see. Lots of folk massing at the real marathon finish, so lots of dodging and diving to get through each time

Boy, there are certainly some hills in Central Park particularly the one coming back up west side. That one was a real struggle on lap 4.

Didn't think much of the crowds, didn't get any shout outs for Coombsy!

Maybe more thoughts to follow later.

Note

Met a Japanese guy at the hotel last night - just off his flight. Had just found out race was cancelled. Really felt for him.

Note

Walked about 80 blocks in the Manhattan lights in the evening.
