Running race 1:07:10 [5] 10.0 km (6:43 / km) +710m 4:57 / km
shoes: new grey Inov8s

Maddy Moss Mash Hill Race.

Set off okay but gradually drifted back on second half of the climb up The Law. Never really got running after that on the undulating bit from there up to Ben Cleuch and then Andrew Gannel Hill - lost loads of places including being passed by the women in 2nd-6th place (Elke Schmidt passed me halfway up The Law).

Took it a bit easy on the next bit of descent and had a chat with Jase who was jogging after missing the start. Ran a bit harder on the sheeptrack descent but had no leg speed, able to take the steep rough descent at the end nice and easy as I had a big gap behind me.

Rubbish time in the end and well behind people I have beaten in all the other Bog and Burn races. Brad did 60 and Will did 62, Hazel and Pat who were both near me at the top of Ben Cleuch did 64 and 65.

Looking at the results I probably should have done in the region of 62/63, not really sure why I didn't. Not really up for racing though which didn't help, could have run down quicker and didn't get my heartrate as I high as I should have on the ascent either.

Ascent to The Law 28:51 (ave HR 148)
to Ben Cleuch 9:44 (ave HR150) - total 38:35
to Andrew Gannel Hil 9:03 (ave HR 145) - total 47:38
to finish 19:32 (ave HR 143) - total 67:10

Will continue to have a fairly restful July but need to set some goals and put some training plans in place, have messed around a bit since the British at Culbin. In particular after July I will get back to reps on a regular basis, can't keep complaining about lack of leg speed if I don't do anything about it....

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]
shoes: new grey Inov8s

warm up - felt like I had warmed down on the last part of the race so settled for a walk back from the finish!

Entered the Ochils 2000s race at registration - 28km with 1500m of climb, race record 3hrs. Seemed like a good idea at the time....
