Orienteering race (Forest) 26:11 [4] *** 4.0 km (6:33 / km)
spiked:11/16c

Ecclesall Woods. A bit of pressure starting after John Rocke and b4 Ben Stevens plus training partner Matt Franklin behind Ben. Couldn't feel the row yesterday at all and ran fast and strong throughout. Was fairly clean making mostly small route choice errors failing to utilise fast paths here and there. Didn't catch John but Ben/Matt didn't catch me so ran the whole thing on me Jack Jones. Beat Tim by 2secs and Matt by just over 30secs.

Orienteering race (Forest) 24:04 [4] *** 4.0 km (6:01 / km)

Ecclesall Woods. Not the best start with me and King of Britton both a bit confused by not knowing where the start triangle was, maybe next time I'll look at the map to find out. So b4 we knew what was happening Joe Mercer, Pyrat and Matt were upon us and the pace was high. Joe and KingTim had the edge and were grad pulling away on the long path run to 2 but both missed 3 and the five of us were together again. Tim led us along the scenic route to 4 with me lagging behind at the back. I missed 7 on my own but caught the pack minus Joe at 9 - dunno what happened but I think it had summit to do with a dodgy repair job on a compass. Somehow I kept up thru 10, 11 and then took the best line into 12 and then it was my turn to lead but I don't think the lads appreciated my route to 15. After a quick relocation and punch I decided to go high to 16 and I would've got away with it if it wasn't for you meddling kids. So I trailed from there into the finish with not much left in the tank.

The weather just got worse and worse as the day went on but what difference - an absolutely bang on map, course and event in general. Dude sweet.
