Post conference Day 1 run. Gave my talk in the afternoon, phew, stress lowered. Just a cruise, while watching non-captioned Fox News. Probably better that way.
Enjoyed the morning's talks on Star Formation. A hot thing right now is to connect the galactic and extragalactic studies, totally a good thing to do!! But beware lots of systematic differences in the observations...
Early morning talk on the HDFs was less good. C'mon, it and it's offspring are our windows to the high-redhsift universe, bring a little more excitement to the party!! Especially as the first talk of the conference, too.
Late afternoon talk on Galactic Archeology by my academic grandfather (PhD supervisor of my PhD supervisor). Two generations is enough to have little in common, but it was interesting stuff about trying to figure out the Milky Way's star formation history by identifying sets of stars with similar abundances that they must have been formed in the same cluster.
