MTB Orienteering race 52:41 [4] 5.38 mi (9:48 / mi) +194m 8:48 / mi
ahr:154 max:171 11c

Map and course:

The track isn't quite adjusted correctly even after a bunch of adjustments in QR. I wonder if the map is off. I don't usually have much trouble getting the track to fit the map.

I need to work on my biking techniques. I go too slowly, especially on curves.

The rule was you had to stick to trails and the mowed, but not mapped, trails in the open areas. There's a trail connecting the two trails in the circle at 5 that would have been useful. It is mapped, but the gap isn't adjusted in OCAD, so you can't really see it on the map.

I really blew the route to 2.

Fun, but I was feeling drained from the biking, heat and humidity (even though it wasn't actually terribly hot). I couldn't push the effort.

MTB cycling 52:10 [1] 3.8 mi (13:44 / mi) +134m 12:22 / mi

On the way to Stocksdale, I drove by Wyandotte and thought that I should go check out the new MTB trails (new to me, I think they've been there a year or 2). So on the way home from Stocksdale, I decided to stop and check some of them out.

I was tired and probably should have just skipped it. The sun came out just as I arrived and the temps jumped a few degrees. I was tired. After about 20 minutes I was just worn out.

I took one small fall. I rouned a corner and met a deer standing in the middle of the trail. The deer just froze. So I stopped and unclipped. Then the deer moved, so I clipped in and took a pedal stroke. Then the deer stopped and frooze and I started to unclip, then the deer moved, I started to clip my foot back in but at that point I wasn't actually moving forward and my balance was a bit off. If I'd just pulled my foot all the way out, I'd have had no trouble. But, I was torn between doing that and clipping back in...and I tipped over. Then the deer left. No harm, but the kind of thing that wouldn't have happened if I weren't tired.

running 40:00 intensity: (20:00 @2) + (20:00 @4)

4 x Ulrik's Hill with Ulrik but nobody else.

On 2 of the hills I was interrupted by a couple of loose dogs (being "walked" by someone in an SUV on the closed road).

I felt pretty good.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute.

My right foot is a bit sore. It has been sore off-and-on for a few days. I'd like that to stop.

It was hot today. Windy, too.

When I got home I didn't want to run, but I did work up a good sweat by mowing the yard.

running 1:30:00 [2]

Mary, Ulrik, Matt and I went up to the Perry trails.

I ran with Matt. Ulrik couldn't handle our pace (too slow!). I ran with the map and read it now and then.

They've added a new bit of trail on the little peninsula - so that was interesting to see.

It wasn't really hot, but my h.r. was creeping up throughout the run though the pace was consistent. That's typical of hot weather (at least for me), but it wasn't nice to see because it wasn't actually very hot. I wonder if something is a bit off. I felt a bit off yesterday (and didn't do any training). Maybe some allergies or something. Maybe a bit dehydrated. I got tired. The last little hill was tough.

Fun.
