Mountain Biking 3:58:12 [3] 47.5 mi (12.0 mph)

Started out a bit rough... Flipped over my handle bars on the sidewalk outside my door trying to start my gps watch. Banged my shin (on the handlebars?) and had to sit for a few minutes. After that the ride was pretty smooth.

The bike odometer says 47.5, the gps watch says 45.0. I guess for the length it's not that big of a discrepancy, but it would be nice to know which is right.

Took back roads from home to island lake, did the ~14 mile single track loop, and then came back the same way. Roads were probably about 50/50 paved and dirt. The single track went really well, I'm definitely improving.

Started around 9:30 and it was still slightly cool out. It was close to 90 by the time we got home, and we were feeling it. Was through 70oz water and a Gatorade with about 5 miles left, not too bad. Ate a Carmel macchiato gu (ok), a brownie clif bar (thumbs up) and a pack of peanuts (thumbs up).

Orienteering 2:14:10 [3] 4.75 mi (28:15 / mi)

Locker Lake.

Didn't really do this in the spirit of "intervals", as we just walked the whole time, but we tried to keep moving when we were in each section, and only take breaks between sections Overall this went really well, much better than our attempt at chilson last week. We found all the checkpoints (missed a few of the start/finish streamers, not sure if it was just not paying attention, or if some had gone missing) and only had 1 that i would call a blunder - got a little turned around at 15, but got on track in just a few minutes.

Wore zipoffs and 30% DEET bug spray, and that combo worked pretty well. Thorns didnt get to my legs and the bugs realy only buzzed my head in a few locations, but no bites.

Interval 1 : 23:35
2 : 12:08
3: 24:49
4: 18:32
5: 6:52
6: 18:35

Swimming 45:00 [3] 1.6 km (28:07 / km)

50 warm up
3x500 - 10:02, 9:54, 10:20
50 cool down

The middle 500 felt great. The first I was still getting warmed up so my arms were sore. The last one I felt like jello. Pretty happy with my times.

Road Running 1:16:00 [3] 8.15 mi (9:20 / mi)

b2b trail. One small walk to fend off a cramp. Mule camelback drank ~ 50 oz, and a chocolate gu. Felt good

Rock Climbing 2:00:00 [3]

Went with a friend who needed to do the training, so we bouldered for an hour while she was doing that. Got 1 move away from completing a V3, but mostly stuck to V0-V2 with good success.

Switched to top roping with already pretty tired arms and fingers. Did a 10.D i had struggled with a while ago, without too many problems this time. Then a 10- and 9, both were completed but definitely harder than normal after bouldering. Should probably do similar more often.

Orienteering 1:20:00 [3] 3.0 mi (26:40 / mi)

Went out to the training course at Chilson and discovered we are a little rusty. Only hit the first 6 controls before the bugs were driving us too insane and we had to call it quits. We found all 6, just a little slow, second guessing and checking our routes more than necessary.

Side note, this was my first time out with my new Suunto Arrow 5 thumb compass. I think once I get used to it I'll like it a lot. I can't believe how stable the needle is compared to my previous baseplate.
