Childwick Bury - Absolutely packed in the park lol covid who?? Very muddy in parts, esp in Batchwood Forest but wasn’t exactly aiming for a PB run anyway

Orienteering 58:24 [3] *** 7.07 km (8:16 / km) +75m 7:51 / km

Ashridge Central #1 - Starting at start to no5 section because of where we parked - started slow and finished faster
Starting at start to no5 section because of where we parked - started slow and finished faster
5 slow in terrain, legs feeling like lead but spiked it in
6 green had completely changed so made a real mess of this and bailed
7 I was quite boring and stuck to the paths with some corner cutting
8 following along the earthwall and spiked nicely
Start pushed too far west by terrain and had to correct at the end
9 easy peasy
10 good flow out, green had changed to hesitant in the circle
11 good flow
12 didn't plan ahead, but easy leg meant I didn't suffer the consequences. Also saw Bertie in the control circle which always helps :P
Finish Easy peasy
1 made the mistake of trusting the white and going straight - it was not white and full of undergrowth. hit the attackpoint ok though so did manage to get there ok, albeit slowly
2 spiked
3 spiked
4 spiked
Start spiked :D
1 PM

Orienteering 25:22 [3] *** 2.37 km (10:42 / km) +84m 9:06 / km

Start > 7 all the way to 12 and then headed home as it was PINT TIME (cough I mean lunch time) Overall, legs feeling like lead and running out of energy
7 spiked
8 contoured from path bend which worked well - no real missing that depression though
Start slog out of the pit - Bertie was a bit of a giveaway of the start triangle lol
9 Saw Bertie go quite far down the hill, but decided to stay high, hit the first ditch and followed into the second easily
10 followed down into the re-entrant
11 wanted to follow down the path but it ended up being too low, so contoured around - slow but did the job

Orienteering 20:53 [3] 2.75 km (7:36 / km) +18m 7:21 / km

Ashridge East - Clocks. Pretty flat area which made things FAST despite all the undergrowth - clocks is such a fun format too
Start > 1 swerved about on this, should of come in lower from the road
Start > 2 spiked
2 > 3 spiked, terrain was pleasingly accurate except the knolls are surprisingly small
Start > 4 spiked thanks to a nicely accurate bearing
4 > 5 despite a good attackpoint, found the map-to-ground a bit harder to understand
Start > 6 Bertie hid the control so spent a minute looking around for it
6 > 7 good flow
Start > 8 saw the flag 100m off so just breezed straight to it, job done
4 PM

Orienteering 17:13 [3] 1.29 km (13:21 / km) +66m 10:38 / km

Ashridge South - Damn you daylight saving!! This was a really cool area, but the dark at 4.30pm got to us and we had to finish early. Not going to bother with an analysis on it, but it went swimmingly, despite all the climb
