Cycling warm up/down (To Event) 31:00 [3] 11.0 km (2:49 / km)

To Hampstead Heath.

Orienteering warm up/down (District Event) 54:34 [4] *** 8.1 km (6:44 / km) +235m 5:53 / km
27c slept:8.0 shoes: Gym Trainers

Brown course at LOK Hampstead Heath event. Very warm. Many of the water features had almost dried out. Vegetation wasn't too bad. The course included a leg through the field in front of Kenwood House, and over the top of Parliament Hill, with its stunning views of central London. Only one proper mistake, where I far overshot the feature. Finished 5th, Ed won in 46 minutes. Actual distance run was 9.7km.

Cycling (Back Home) 29:40 [3] 11.1 km (2:40 / km)

Back home from Hampstead Heath.

Cycling warm up/down (To Station) 1:02:00 [4] 26.5 km (2:20 / km)
shoes: Specalized MTB Cleats

Fast cycle to Kew Gardens station to meet Jayne and Tom for a bike ride to Windsor. Went via Clapham. Pushed very hard for the first 28 minutes, until the approach to Clapham. Roads generally quiet until Wandsworth, then very busy on the South Circular.

Cycling long 3:10:00 [2] 49.0 km (3:53 / km)
shoes: Specalized MTB Cleats

Kew Gardens to Windsor, via Richmond Park, Teddington, Bushy Park, Shepperton, Chertsey, Virginia Water Lake and Windsor Great Park. The Richmond Park to Virginia Water Lake section was almost the same route that I took on my London-Oxford cycle earlier this year.

Started slowly but built up a decent pace towards the end. A bit chilly early on, but the sun came out properly for the second half and it ended up being a very pleasant day. The famous view down the Long Walk to Windsor Castle was appropriately grand. Richmond Park was also looking very nice, with loads of deer everywhere (although they get culled at night this month, so there might not be so many around soon.)

Cycling (To/from Event) 1:33:17 [3] 34.09 km (2:44 / km)

From work to Wandsworth and then back home, all in the dark. Aggressive going out and very aggressive going back (which was via the Thames Embankment and Bank, and included an unplanned loop in some modern riverside complex near Wandsworth), until I checked my speed at under 20km/h for the final 3km. Don't know why I was being so aggressive! Not good.

Cycle Commuting (In to Work) 27:39 [1] 8.73 km (3:10 / km)

Deliberately slow, also went the "back route" from Angel, rather than along Euston Road.

Cycle Commuting (Back Home) 24:23 [2] 8.5 km (2:52 / km)

Again, holding back, but surprisingly it seems to make little difference to the times.

Cycle Commuting (Back Home) 24:19 [3] 8.8 km (2:46 / km)

In the dark. Surprised at how fast this was, especially as I diverted via the supermarket.

Cycle Commuting (In to Work) 23:45 [2] 8.22 km (2:53 / km)

Tires back up to 120psi - seems to make a "difference" of around 70m on my commute in.

Cycle Commuting (Back Home) 25:28 [3] 8.76 km (2:54 / km)

At sunset. Max 42.2kph through the park.
