Enjoyed this. Lost time at 3 firstly getting caught by the trap then going back to the control as i don't think the contactless emit registered the first time. After 3 I was able to pre plan better and didn't get caught out again. Don't think my route around 10, 11, 12 was optimal but happy enough with the result

British Night Champs at Muir of Dinnet - Course 1 10.9km

The last time i retired at British Nights was 2016. Since then my torch was now not faulty, my running and nav has improved so I was looking forward to it.

First 5 controls were a little scrappy but found them all with no major issues. 6 was a big error and used the road as a catching feature then a handrail. On the way to 7 though i felt the sole of my shoe coming off. I tried carrying on 7-12 but I was slow due to the shoe and also making errors - paying more attention to the shoe than the map. On the long leg to 13 I thought to myself "why am i going all the way over there if this run has lost all purpose?" so i started making my way to the finish. I found a few on the way back just walking round.

The forest wasn't as nice as the hype made it out to be.

Very chill today for me with no WASP so I'm not wiped out before this weekend.

ESOC Training on Blackford Hill. Exercise this week was contour awareness but I know Blackford too well and don't have to use the contours to navigate - so when the contours got taken off the map it didn't affect me at all.

Now realised I wasn't doing the exercise properly - woops
