mate, don't worry about those cnuts. i bin reading thru the crap written in that active survey. idiots mostly, suggesting "i'm just gonna head down anytime with some mates and ride the course for free"... yea that track is a magic one that just appeared in the forest and will soon heal itself...

Sorry to hear you got a hard time from some ungrateful people who have no respect for their or others own safety. No one ever cancels without good reason and when running adventure race business you have to do the right thing to keep yourselves in the game. The trouble is the world still has hoons who ride mountain bikes!

Stuff gets cancelled, so people won't get killed, right? So you guys made the responsible (only possible?) decision. Won't be the first or last time. (The Portland marathon 2 years ago didn't happen because of wild & woolly weather.)
Our club canned Sunday's OY event because the rain made access impossible and 3 years ago in the March heatwave it was a total fire ban that made us postpone an OY. Can't be helped...

I definately think you guys made the right descision to cancel it. Sure there are a few gooses who complain - they've probably never organised anything in their lives - but imagine if it had been on and someone was killed by a tree falling on them.

Yeah thanks guys, we know we might the correct decision its just having to deal with all the idiots out there that sucks!

Shep - yeah the active survey was frustrating, they just sent it out without our knowledge! We didnt need another way for the angry and loud 5% of people to have a go!

hahaha yeah what a clown, we spent an hour going along maulbrooks rd with three chainsaws and ten people and only got 2/3km! Then we go out of the forest quick as when the wind picked up again and we were seriously scared for our lives

Didn't have any complaints the last time I cancelled an event, but the fact that the area was on fire probably had something to do with that.

Commiserations. Seems like a different class of ppl etc. Is this part of the culture of buying events rather than joining a club?

it's a noisy minority, that's all. there was about 45 comments (which weren't all negative) in that active survey, out of what was it lazydave, 1500 entries?

noisy minority, like the coalition.

45 out of 1500? So if they all refuse to enter next time, it might be a much more enjoyable event for the remainder. Social evolution at work.

And remind me to utilise AROC next time we need some interesting weather.

Yeah a very noisy minority and yep it has been mentioned that should they not enter next year it'll probably be best for everyone. Only 1250 entries this year but got a positive word from forests about 1500 for next year :)

We've had a great run of weather from our Tuggs AR last year which had around 100mm in 24/48hrs(?) to the Capital Punishment mudfest to this. We were lucky with the The North Face 100, that would be terrible if the weather set in. Got some advice from Blairtron on conditions and we are looking at the scheduling of the races fro next year and possible changes.
