Tapio: Is anyone putting together a U.S. or Attackpoint team for this year's Jukola in Mikkeli, Finland? I just purchased my flights to Finland and am looking for a team.

Tundra/Desert: I'll go and run but I gave up on the idea of forming a U.S. team a few months ago.

#  Posted 2009-04-25 22:20:27
Tapio: Well, we would only need 5 others to have a team... I'll ask if there is any interest among BAOC members. If not, I'll contact my old Finnish clubs.

#  Posted 2009-04-25 23:37:26
cedarcreek: Here's the listing on Attackpoint, Jukola 2009, showing who has entered a yes/no/maybe.

Looks like mostly people in Europe. Balter sort of stands out among the people with AP ranking numbers, and wilsmith and falcon without.

#  Posted 2009-04-26 02:53:43
eddie: Balter always stands out :)

#  Posted 2009-06-04 19:06:50
Tundra/Desert: Won't be at the Jukola. Passport was stolen this past Monday.

#  Posted 2009-06-04 19:10:09
j-man: Where are you? I guess you'll be there for a while.

#  Posted 2009-06-05 09:42:03
Tapio: I'm running the 4th leg for Espoon Suunta's 6th team (#512).

#  Posted 2009-06-09 20:07:38
cedarcreek: I emailed the Jukola Organizers about online streaming, and they said:

"Online streaming is planned to be open on 13th June (Saturday) at 12 AM.
Link to stream will be published on http://www.jukola2009.net when the streaming is available."

I read 12AM as Noon in Finland, so that is 5am in NYC, 2am in LA, and 7pm in Sydney, all on Saturday. The main event will start much later.

Later this week I'll find a competition schedule and post times for the various starts and expected finishes.

#  Posted 2009-06-12 23:20:11
BorisGr: cedarcreek, when you say "online streaming", do you mean sound only or video also?
Sad to not be running this year, but excited about following the whole relay from home!

#  Posted 2009-06-12 23:36:53
cedarcreek: They said Video and Audio.

#  Posted 2009-06-13 02:08:30
BorisGr: Yup, it's there now. Thanks!

cedarcreek: Jan over at World of O has a really nice Jukola preparations page with a lot of map samples and links.

He's also got a live interactive blog going on right now.

#  Posted 2009-06-13 16:59:23
expresso: Has anyone gotten the streaming video going yet ??
Maybe they are not broadcasting yet but the Venla starts in 10 minutes so I assume so.

#  Posted 2009-06-13 17:49:59
bubo: It´s working OK for me in Sweden!

#  Posted 2009-06-13 18:26:33
expresso: Got it thx; needed an iptables tweak on my servers to open a non-standard port.
Looks like a gorgeous day. Wish I were there...

#  Posted 2009-06-14 04:40:31
j-man: Can anyone compete with Halden?

Maybe Orion... they have two Sagers.

And did anyone notice that Lacho Iliev is running for Halden3? Go Lacho!

#  Posted 2009-06-14 04:44:32
j-man: And Iliana Shandurkova ran for Halden1!

Halden runners now. Very nice. It wasn't too long ago that Wyatt was beating them.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 04:53:37
j-man: What a long run-in! Norberg was running like a horse.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 05:36:22
j-man: With Albin powering through leg 4 and some hammers on the last legs, where will Line finish?

#  Posted 2009-06-14 05:37:37
j-man: I'm beginning to feel like Eddie--providing commentary for my own entertainment ;)

#  Posted 2009-06-14 05:57:25
cedarcreek: Have they been showing much GPS?

#  Posted 2009-06-14 06:12:29
j-man: Enough. And a lot of TV.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 07:06:43
cedarcreek: Go Cheese!

(It had to be said.)

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:16:07
disorienteer: Wow, Tero is closing in on Emil! Or is Emil slowing down?

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:16:14
j-man: Emil!

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:16:38
j-man: He is trying to skip a control ;) OK, not so funny, I know.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:25:41
jeffw: 52 seconds!

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:25:46
j-man: This is getting good!

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:27:23
j-man: Of moy, Emil is going on the road and the boyz are going straight.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:27:30
blegg: Big route choice now....

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:30:07
j-man: I love when Minna conduscts interviews.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:34:19
j-man: BTW--what happened to Line?

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:35:30
j-man: OMG

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:35:59
cedarcreek: DQ?

http://online1.jukola.com/tulokset/en/j2009_ju/kil...

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:36:12
jeffw: All even!!

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:39:51
cedarcreek: Wow.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:42:55
disorienteer: Poor Emil. He looks tired now. Wow, all on the same fork for 21. That may help.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:44:04
j-man: He does look tired.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:44:20
j-man: Tero misses.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:46:10
j-man: It is surprisingly hard to match the GPS track map with the old map of the area...

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:48:16
j-man: This upcoming control is tough. Boulder in the green with tough attack...

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:49:55
j-man: Dumb question, but where is the dedicated GPS track (as opposed to in the TV coverage0?

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:49:59
disorienteer: Big fun in the Carr household on a Saturday night: Tom, Lisa and Cristina huddled in front of a laptop on the couch, watching Jukola.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:55:19
j-man: They are dropping Emil.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:57:59
disorienteer: Yep. He's done.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:58:59
cedarcreek: Nah, he's gettin' mad!

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:59:05
disorienteer: The leaders are "in virgin territory." Tom and I didn't know what that meant.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 08:59:50
j-man: Aside from the top 300 or so, a lot of those orienteers looks like Americans.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:00:56
disorienteer: LOL! We made the same comment!

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:03:56
j-man: Dude, this is what the NBA finals were supposed to be this year. Lebron vs. Kobe.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:04:34
j-man: They've split!

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:04:46
disorienteer: Oooo, split route choices! Exciting!

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:06:47
disorienteer: Daniel's route wins.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:08:25
j-man: Maybe Hubmann is too strong!

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:09:24
disorienteer: Will he spike it??

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:09:44
disorienteer: If he does, he wins!

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:10:49
j-man: There is no doubt Hubmann is strong.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:10:58
eddie: hey, what the hell is going on in here?!?

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:11:04
disorienteer: There he goes! Well done.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:11:26
disorienteer: We're having a Jukola party! All 4 of us.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:11:52
disorienteer: Congrats to Kristianstad OK!!

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:11:52
j-man: Kristiansand! They are awesome!

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:13:07
cedarcreek: Tero doesn't like to lose.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:13:31
disorienteer: Tero looked bummed.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:14:08
j-man: He got outrun.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:15:44
disorienteer: I guess Halden won't take the track for 3rd...

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:21:15
disorienteer: Glad t hey're not making him read Finnish!

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:21:29
disorienteer: Dallas out!

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:21:44
j-man: I never saw this part... it's kind of cute.

But, remind me next time I'm in a position to win Jukola to take it easy on the run-in.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:22:28
z-man: Novikov is in! Daniel is a beast!!!!

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:28:09
j-man: Nice that it was Novikov-Mamleev.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:28:55
j-man: Whoops--that isn't Mamleev. I need HD streaming...

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:33:58
z-man: Mamleev ran 6 leg I think.

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:34:07
eddie: Did you see who was third in Venla?

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:36:08
cedarcreek: Venla Results

#  Posted 2009-06-14 09:41:03
j-man: Is Sime running out of time to catch up with the top girls?
