Running 31:10 [2] 3.75 mi (8:19 / mi)

Since the world did not end at 6pm, I went out for a run. Easy run (8:48 pace first two miles), but picked it up a bit when I saw nate up ahead with a mile to go. It looked like he was loafing, but I ran 7:21 the last mile and lost about 40 seconds to him.

Legs were heavy from the full day at the County Champs, where we turned in some pretty good performances, all things considered, but we'll need to run better next weekend.

Orienteering 45:00 [2] 3.5 mi (12:51 / mi)

Orienteering (Emery Park Map Hike), as part of Walt's 70th birthday party celebration. Went around for 70 minutes with Walt, Chris, Tim, Bill and Brig. Different folks led different legs. We must have done about 12 of the controls, including all S of Emery.

Running race 48:15 [4] 5.8 mi (8:19 / mi)

Dirt Cheap Trail Race at Webster Park (distance is estimated).

Legs still heavy from the weekend, so I kept it comfortable. The mud was quite thick in places from all the rain, and I was just wearing the Pegasus, so it was slow going in those sections. For the last third of the race a guy kept catching me in the muddy sections and I'd pull away in the drier areas, so it kept me sort of honest. About a minute slower than last year, which was likely the time loss due to the mud.

Running warm up/down 5:00 [2] 0.57 mi (8:45 / mi)

Running 30:00 [2] 3.43 mi (8:45 / mi)

Nearly 12 hours at work, with a meeting at lunchtime, but I did not want another goose egg. So, I stopped at Corbett's Glen on the way-ish home for an easy run. Checked out random trails, mostly off the beaten path, and wound up along Allen's Creek where the trail abruptly ended and I came within about an inch of being headfirst into the creek, when the spot my landed on turned out to be moss/grass suspended by a single tree root. I was able to stop my tumbling with my face just about touching the water.

Popped out of the park on Colonial Village, then tried to find the way back in on Park Ln, but could not see an obvious entrance.

Note
(rest day)

Track meet against Penfield at Thomas, 4x800 FTW, again! This time it capped a Division title season (thanks to an ineligible R-H athlete). No energy to run after the meet, but a day off after the Billygoat is not unreasonable.

Orienteering 1 [0] 0.01 mi (1:41 / mi) +444m 1 / mi

This is the Billygoat route for Patty, Walt and Luke: 11.39 miles.
11 AM

Orienteering race 3:14:07 [3] 14.0 km (13:52 / km)

Billygoat at some state park in Connecticut.

Another mass start race, another disaster. Leg comments coming.

Tough course - I knew partway thru that Luke, Walt and Patty were not going to finish within 3.5 hours.
