Running - Road warm up/down 10:00 [1] 1.5 km (6:40 / km)
slept:6.0 shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 'O'

to/from start, stopping for wee-wees

Orienteering (NOC regional Bestwood) 1:00:00 [3] *** 5.4 km (11:07 / km) +280m 8:49 / km

Blue course - Brambley Hell!
Hit #1 perfectly, so was looking forward to a good run, maybe dropping below the 1hr mark? But the 200m to #2 taking 5.30 mins put payed to that! Wasn't too bad until 14, mainly loosing time bashing/pootling through brambles (I could have taken more roundabout pathy routes. but where's the fun in that?!) Then managed to screw up a path to 15, and ended up looking for the control on a slope facing south, not north, and 200m east of where I was meant to be (Hell, I was nearly on top of #5!) so a good 12 mins lost there. After the page turn (that was a suprise!) was just a bit slow. OK nav wise but now overly cautious/slowed down by brambles. Cocked up 21 thinking I was clever and not in need of paths. slow to 22, but then a slight beast for the finish.
A good exercise methinks. If only it wasn't for those bloody brambles

Cocking about 12:00 [2]
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 'O'

This was all on 1 control as well, probably did a good 5 mins extra throughout the course! 71.54 time - was expecting ~80 after the faff. Leader when I finished was 20mins ahead... goes to show that if I wasn't a tool for 1min of map reading I'd have been really chuffed with the run!
good map, shame about the brambles. Someone was saying it's a good technical area, but there's too many pths, making it too easy. The fact is that with the sodding brambles, you need the paths to get about, and it's not overly technical...

Note

Bugger Bugger Bugger... just checked the splits for today. had about 5 fasted and a few where I wasn't too far off... but both faffs dropped me about 20 places each time. at least it's nice to know that I can Orienteer fairly well at times. 17th overall, that 20min gap is deffinatly doable with more concentration. Well ahead of everyone on any course to the finish :p

Running - Road warm up/down 10:00 [1]
shoes: Asics somethings

hardly any. got a stich after eating food quickly :D

Orienteering race (UrbanO) 19:31 [4] *** 2.8 km (6:58 / km) +25m 6:40 / km

Leeds Chasing Sprint Prologue.
Bit of a fanny to number 1 (10secs), but lost less time than others. Pretty scrappy at times - headed wrong side of a building to 5 at first - d'oh! (10 secs) Spent 10secs checking route to 11 at 10, just to make sure wasn't missing anything. Lost concentration at 13, headed right instead of left out of the park (20 secs), unsure to 18 (15secs), massive boob to 20, ran right past gate meant to go through and mistook 1 small stair set for another big one? (30secs)
so yeah, bout 1.5-2mins lost? Moved OK, but not great.

Orienteering race (UrbanO) 21:08 [4] *** 3.24 km (6:31 / km) +55m 6:01 / km
spiked:7/12c shoes: Asics somethings

Leeds Uni Chase
Started 29 secs down on hartman, with people 10 secs behind. Small errors all over the place, and one big one on 8-9 where I lost all contact with the map, but popped out somewhere I'd been en route to 7, which wasn't too far off where I'd want to be. Prob. 30secs there. Had a good race with the guy just behing me, but don't know whether I beat him or not. Took Hartman on the long leg to 4 as he apeared to blow up, but I wasn't moving as consistently fast as I wanted to.
Faz beat me on the finish! But only because as I came in to it there was no kite, just a mass of people, and I was drawn to them, not where the box was... but a guy on another vourse was very impressed with my sprint as I nearly took out a couple of Leeds studes.

stayed in 23rd after prologue. If it wasn't for general cocking about to 9!

Note
(rest day)

Shittest day ever? Started OK, then absolute bitch of an 'exam' (supposedly 25% of the module!!!) - They should stop trying to think up new ways to loose us marks and generally piss us off, or they'll soon have a revolt on their hands.
Could really have done with Intervals to burn off some pent-up anger, but hey-ho, can't go. boo. Mozart's Requiem cheered me up a bit, tis sounding good, should be a good concert.
roll on Leeds :D

Running - Road warm up/down 40:00 [2] 7.0 km (5:43 / km) +100m 5:20 / km
shoes: Asics somethings

Run to Endcliffe perkwith Dave, Gaz Charli & J, strode out a bit at times. Then to bingham, warm up up the hill. Then back with Craig and J. Stopped at Craig's too see the old housemates, then sharpish back home as hills had given me the trots... 15 to endcliffe, 18 back. estimate the rest

Running - Road hills 30:00 [5] 4.48 km (6:42 / km) +296m 5:02 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 'O'

8 reps of about 2 mins (just under) of effort in bingham. 80%(ish) long, active not-so-much-recovery, then sprint short followed by ~min of active recovery. Nailed a few of the reps and a few of the sprints, otherwise just put a lot of effort in without transfering some of the speed to the leggies, or am I talking bullshit? Probably. Still great session - I'l feel that tomorrow. Wouldn't want to do intervals on top of that!
off to the IC now to print a load of posters. woop!

Note

would like to know how much I weigh at the moment. Get the feeling it's not much, seeing as I've started taking my trousers off without the need to undo the button on them. And in public and all!
V much looking forward to Leeds on Saturday. I'm hoping to kill it.
