Orienteering (ACT Long Champs) 1:26:40 [4] ** 9.4 km (9:13 / km) +310m 7:55 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw - spikes

Felt good on the long leg to 1, ran staight past 2 and realised when I hit the big erosion gully. Not used to running in such large fields so a bit frustrating when people catch up to you. Weird route choice to 5 down into the dry river and along a ploughed field up to the massively steep hill won me a split, the only one of the race. Drifted too low on 9 thinking the control was further down the spur than it appeared on the ground, a few of us were lost sheep around here. Happy to be under 10 min/km.

Orienteering race (ACTSprint Champs) 18:21 [3] 2.4 km (7:39 / km)
shoes: Salomon Trial

After the 4hr drive forom Sydney in massive cross and headwinds arrived 5 mins after my start time. Got to the start and forgot to take control descriptions. Didn't push hard enough during the race around the CIT buildings, I think I counted that I went past that steaming vent thingy 4 times, lost 2 mins on 13 crossing into the forest and generally slow throughout. 3 mions behond the winner in the oldies class. Good to get some freash air..and haven't had a head on collisoin like that since my hockey days..

Orienteering (ACT Middle Champs) 43:51 [4] *** 5.3 km (8:16 / km) +110m 7:30 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw - spikes

2nd time on the map, but a totally different course. Made a 5 min mistake on 3 that enabled to blokes on my course to catch up. Kept trying to drag them off but was slow up the hills then annoyingly navigation suffered when they were ahead. Made a parallel error at 13 navigating off the wrong finger of yellow. All in all a bit sloppy.
