Bike - Road 1:26:09 [3] 21.53 mi (15.0 mph)

Bike to ILRA. Took it easy to save our legs for orienteering.
12 PM

Orienteering (SMOC ILRA - Red ) 1:39:00 [3] 6.2 mi (15:58 / mi)

Had lunch and rested up for a bit after we arrived. Decided to try going without water. Next time I do that I should stop and drink the water on the course...

Heading toward 1 I didn't go quite high enough to hit the stream bed, so I wandered for a little before hitting the control. Not the best way to start. Controls 2-4 went smoothly, but it was so thick. Then made a really stupid mistake and headed toward 8 instead of 5...ugh. Got most of the way there before running into BF. I thought he was running in a weird direction and figured out my error. Hit 5-8 with no troubles. Pretty happy with 9, I'm not sure I took the most efficient route, but it was long and I hit the control right on. Another mistake on the way to 10. I cut through the bushes, ended up too far N, thought I figured out where I was and then stumbled upon the control! Smooth sailing all the way through 13. On 14 I hit the clearing N of the control (maybe?), wandered a little, corrected and then found the depression. Getting to 15 was rough, it was so thick. I did hit the control right on and then thought I'd cut through the swamp. Why not? Again, I was fighting my way through. Miraculously, I came out exactly where I wanted and then ran through to 16 and then the finish.

Orienteering 27:02 [1] 1.22 mi (22:10 / mi)

Flag pickup. I think I got the short end of the stick - ended up lugging back 3 gallons of water, 2 posts, 1 game cam, 4 flags and a trash bag. Good forearm workout.
5 PM

Bike - Road 1:23:29 [3] 21.91 mi (15.7 mph)

Bike back from Island Lake. Felt pretty good and it went by quickly.
