eughh the climb sucked, was mostly clean otherwise (bobbled 5 and 15) but the uphills were brutal (plus the sandy ground where you'd take a step and slide right back down). Also an uphill finish after that was just mean ngl. It was fun actually being able to use the map and contours to navigate.

Made one 5 minute mistake because I drifted off my bearing as I was trying to take my inhaler out of my back pocket without losing the car keys since my asthma was flaring up. Other than that I was clean with one unideal route choice, maybe a little on the slower side but after all the racing I'm just tired.

Running 23:46 [2] 3.32 km (7:10 / km) +22m 6:56 / km

got mad about being slow. sorta accidentally did a 2 mile cooldown cuz I needed to prove myself that I can run I guess. Made me feel like I'm not doing enough so obviously the answer is to do more between two back-to-back races, right?

jogging in nervous little circles and I think my GPS heavily underestimated my distance

Orienteering race (NAOC Relay leg 3) 40:52 intensity: (38 @1) + (46 @2) + (19:45 @3) + (18:17 @4) + (1:26 @5) *** 4.47 km (9:08 / km) +144m 7:52 / km

found a blister on my R heel this morning, so I drained it and put moleskin on it so it was chilling.
Had some caffeinated nuun before the race so I was super energetic and ready to run before Anna even got to the spectator chute.

Felt very physically tired, uphills felt impossible to run up, but I was mostly clean except for a bobble to 2 (hesitation) and 3 (hit a boulder just outside the circle but instantly knew where I was). From 5-6 I sort of think I took an unnecessarily long route around that had extra climb, but the dark green and stony ground looked nasty (and according to others, they were). So I guess it wasn't too dumb, but I was just a bit slow and couldn't run. Walked up to 6 so I could look super speedy in the spectator (success), and I had planned my route to 7 down to setting up my bearing, but crashing through the green slash and crossing the stream both times was tougher than I expected. Other than that, it was chill, I was just tired and couldn't sprint as much as I wanted into the finish.

Running warm up/down 1:39 [1] 0.21 km (7:58 / km) +2m 7:40 / km
ahr:115 max:135 shoes: ASICS Camo

running between my bags and awards and people but I got lazy to do an actual cooldown

so hyped for the long

Orienteering race (NAOC Long Sagehen) 1:48:24 intensity: (3:46 @1) + (6:47 @2) + (37:29 @3) + (58:19 @4) + (2:03 @5) *** 10.88 km (9:58 / km) +308m 8:44 / km

I guess I love longs

I felt pretty solid, had a little trouble pushing up hills but I sucked it up I guess? at least for the first half. At 4 I saw Robyn and Emilia, knowing that Emilia started 3 mins after me and thinking that Robyn started after her so that psyched me out a bit. Bobbled on the attack to 4 but recovered fairly smoothly, lost at most 1min. Tried to contour around as much as possible to 5 while Emilia and Robyn went a lot more straight, and I could see them from a distance. We all hit 6 first, and they shot over to 5, but I thought maybe we were on the ride to the other side of 5 so I started heading the opposite way but then I finally checked my clue sheet and realized my mistake so I ran to 5 immediately. Lost a little over 3 minutes on this leg.
Other than that I started taking more bearings for the rest of the course, for 9 I bobbled a bit on the attack, but recovered fairly quickly compared to what I heard some others did. Frolicked down the hill to 10 and bobbled a little on the attack to 10, but lost at most 30 secs.
To 12 I tried to stay higher but I still was too low, saw control 78 (I was looking for 79) but I guessed correctly which boulder 78 was at so I corrected quickly, just the hill sucked. Might've lost like a minute at most. To 14 I took a bearing but ended up so far off it was confusing, but it was very easy to recover from.

Going to 16 I saw Emilia a little behind me and I was shocked, I thought she was way ahead of me after she passed me to 5. But I knew she wasn't 3 minutes worth away, I guessed about 1.5 minutes, and there wasn't enough navigation left for her to possibly make a 1.5 minute error, but I wasn't about to let her catch up to me any more than she already had. So I tried to push into the finish but damn I was absolutely dying. Worth it tho.
