road cycling 1:57:00 [3] 45.68 km (2:34 / km) +200m 2:30 / km

Final stage of tour de Perth - day 10 - peloton of 3 with Scott joining again and Richard leading Us a merry dance thru the suburbs near the river then north and back to the exclusive coffee stop in Shenton Park. Strong easterly wind meant a very strong tailwind then side wind going north. Route choice minimised the head wind somehow! Struggled on a couple of hills then realised I was giving away 40 years on Scott - but was one year ahead of Richard so had no excuse for dropping back about 50 metres. Wonder if I will put on weight going back on the train going back east??

road cycling 1:03:00 [3] 16.4 km (3:50 / km) +85m 3:45 / km

Recovery cruise with Liz around her alma mater. Strong easterly wind required a bit of grunt to get back to our side of the river. Coffee stop in Mends Street. Up early even tho saw the new year in - albeit the Sydney fireworks via the internet. Will rest legs now before the final stage of the tour de Perth tomorrow morning. Will also hold off doing any more runs until return to Canberra after inflaming the plantaris tendon on right foot during last run - DIY physio seems to be working. The massage stick Liz gave me for my birthday also been getting a work out on my legs.

road cycling 2:00:00 [3] 45.64 km (2:38 / km) +205m 2:34 / km

Peloton of 7 for the usual Friday morning ride - but held on Thursday. Day 9 of tour de Perth. Joined by Scott on his fixxy again. More of a test with some hill climbing today. Pleasant coffee stop about 75 per cent thru the ride. Easterly wind which felt like a headwind most of the way! Used Richards timing as kept forgetting to turn on my Garmin.

road cycling 2:06:00 [3] 46.0 km (2:44 / km) +320m 2:39 / km

Peloton of 2 with Richard leading the way to Ocean Beach on a cooler and less sunny day. Day 8 of tour de Perth. Nice coffee with better halves at Ocean Beach before a cruise ride back via Shenton Park. Fair bit of riding on roads today but limited traffic on the route choice and bike lanes on the side of quite a few roads - road surfaces also very good for riding.

road cycling 1:29:00 [3] 38.55 km (2:19 / km) +66m 2:17 / km

Peloton of 1 with a 6.30 am start to beat the heat. Rode to Maylands (?) beside the Swan River then back and another out and back to Canning bridge. Very flat ride and tried to maintain large sprocket on the front nearly all the way. Bit of a headwind heading south to the the bridge (or else I was tiring). Day 7 of tour de Perth done. Coffee after in Mends Street with some of Liz's old friends (who had cycled from various places).

Run 29:15 [3] 5.01 km (5:50 / km) +5m 5:49 / km

From Scott's place to Narrows bridge and back. Managed to run the whole way by myself i.e. without Richard acting as a lure (as in most recent runs) - pace slowed a lot toward the end. Slight headwind on the way back from the bridge. Not much shade along the foreshore on another sunny clear Perth day - the lack of clouds seems to be a common feature here at this time of year.
