XC Skiing Skate 2:22:17 [3] 27.64 km (5:09 / km) +376m 4:49 / km
ahr:153 max:169 shoes: Atomic Race Skate 2010
10:13 AM. Location: ABR, Ironwood, MI.
Temp: -1.3 °C. Cloudy.
Needed to plot this out so I wouldn't lose any time asking for directions :)
1. Blueberry Bluffs (some dirty spots where the groomer hit bumps)
2. Bard's Bump
3. Hautanen Highlands
4. Coyote Canyon
5. Ridge Runner (leaving ABR for Windy Ridge Nature Preserve, lots of up and downs with sharp zigzag turns)
Now reversing for the trip back:
6. Coyote Canyon (saw the snowman they put up for the first water stop for last week's Sisu Ski Fest, canceled because of weather/snow conditions :(
7. Hautanen Highlands (oh man, I forgot about those nasty uphills)
8. Bard's Bump
9. Blueberry Bluffs
Now the really fun one:
10. Peltonen Pass Out. Passed a couple of HS skiers who were taking a break, was convinced they'd catch me but they never did in spite of a quick breather I took in the middle of hill #3 and the high speed but controlled mini whipe out (Peltonen Whipe Out?).
Cool-down:

12. Popple Flats
Stopped to look at map and chatted with a couple of what we were doing. They suggested Pit Point Loop (marked "most difficult" and when I said I was done with hills for today they said "you've done Peltonen Pass Out, Pit Point is going to be a walk in the park. Thus:
13. Pit Point Loop (indeed, not bad at all)
14. River Trail back to trail head.
I did NOT have the right wax, extremely poor glide. And the snow was very soft. And the temps were MILD. Glad the wind held off.
