Orienteering 1:14:20 [3] 10.4 km (7:09 / km)
(injured)

Went out and hung controls for the Camp Norway training weekend. 3 courses, corridor, window and control pick plus controls from car park through to the start of the exercises. Really good on corridor and control pick but poor direction on windows. Think I've let my compass work slip since last year as I haven't started doing my Wednesday technique training properly. Getting pushed off in rough parts as well, so need to plan some windows training in some of the rough areas near me. Plus a bit of night training will help out as well I think, as you have to use a lot of compass at night.

Knocked my knee on a rock yesterday and it was hurting quite a lot today, need to ice it and rest before Red Bull this weekend!

Orienteering 1:05:22 [2] 7.4 km (8:50 / km)
shoes: VJ Bold 4

Mass start night event. Small but quality field with Florian Howald and Carl Godager Kaas. Really tired from yesterday and not running well. Managed to keep until 1 control before the butterfly then dropped off. Map was really bad quality near the butterfly where I destroyed it on a rock meaning I lost even more time through that and bad map reading. Then pretty solid at the end. Finding it pretty hard to get a grasp on night oing at this time of year, probably because I haven't focused on technique for a while, so I'm finding it hard to navigate in Scandi especially at night.

Orienteering 2:07:50 [2] 18.27 km (7:00 / km)

Lillomarka Nord-Sør 2014 Long Run

16km straight line course on Barlindåsen and Store Gryta. Basic orienteering but a great range of routechoice. I choose to run up the hill in the middle to take in some views, it was a killer but worth it! When the race took place it was won in 1hr40. Don't think I'd get close to until a couple of years!

Running 7:50 [2] 1.5 km (5:13 / km)

Run to start from car park and from the club hut to the flat.

Orienteering race 1:13:49 [4] 9.7 km (7:37 / km)

Smålandskavlen Relay 2nd Night Leg

Started off poorly to number 1 missing my control due to no attack point before relocating on a boulder. Number 2 found fine but dodgy route from 1 to path meant I lost time. 3 I was slow picking myself through a vague area and 4 I missed slightly looking on the wrong pair of boulders. Then 5 I nearly went crazy running into this marsh as I ran over the path I was looking for, the path was way too small to be marked how it was. I quickly relocated and then I started to push on due to a large path section. I then picked up confidence found a group I could compete with and had a great 2nd half to the race. I was tiring slightly towards the end but it was tough running in the area at night so I wasn't too bothered about that.

Orienteering 45:11 [3] 7.15 km (6:19 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel-Ds

Training on an area pretty relevant to the competition. Made a small miss as I took a dodgy route to let Robbie and Helmut get ahead a bit. Then didn't check my compass in thick green and came out at a dodgy angle. If only I'd learnt from this mistake at control 1 in the night!

Running 10:50 [4] 3.0 km (3:37 / km)
shoes: Nike Lunarlon

Hill reps, shortened session from 6,6,4 to 4,2,4 due to the taper for Smålandskavlen on Saturday. First 4 I with the group then went solo. Still able to push by myself which is positive.
