Still hurting on hills managed 14/18.

4 from the bottom, 10 from the hump. Missed the lay-bys as it was getting to the point where the quality had dropped due to knee.

Running 18:49 [3] 4.17 km (4:31 / km)
shoes: Nike Lunarlon

Warm up to hills.

Running 12:42 [3] 2.16 km (5:53 / km)

Orienteering 1:03:33 [1] 8.8 km (7:13 / km)
shoes: VJ Bold 4

Military League South

Being systematic worked well at the start. Missed slightly on 8 not concentrating or going directly to big control. Got back into it at 9.

Got to number 10 found no control ran round for ages before finding it ages away from the right place. I know these are amateur events and you might expect to find one control in the wrong place now and again. However as I went off as one if the last runners, I know that about 10 other good orienteers found this control in the wrong place and didn't move it like I did. Find it quite annoying that non of these orienteers moved the control as if it effected me so much I'm sure it ruin an amateur orienteers training which these events are designed for.

Pissed off after this and couldn't regain concentration. Mixture if good controls and bad controls from 10-Finish. At least I got a run out though.

Orienteering 1:14:42 [3] 12.4 km (6:01 / km) +420m 5:09 / km
(injured) shoes: VJ Bold 4

SN Trophy, Black, 2nd

Aim: First time using Systematic Orienteering in a training competition.

Started off well visualising and making the control bigger whilst taking the extra seconds to spot better route choices.
Pain hit me at 8 and stayed until around 15 where it drifted away and came back towards the end.
Only mistake was at 19 where I did not enlarge the circle and had no attack point/big control just trying to run at it.

Overall pretty successful, happy to only be 1.30min off Potter with the injury how it is. Technically I succeeded in my aim today and know why I went wrong.

Running 18:01 [3] 4.17 km (4:19 / km)
shoes: Nike Lunarlon

Warm up to hills. Felt fine.

Running 5:00 [3] 1.75 km (2:51 / km)
(injured) shoes: Nike Lunarlon

First rep was good but jogging down hill really hurt and made my knee ridiculously painful on the next rep. Tried to shake it off but after 4 I pulled at as it wasn't worth the pain.

Running 19:27 [3] 4.17 km (4:40 / km)
shoes: Nike Lunarlon

Again no pain on the depressing lonely jog back to the stadium. The downhill must of tightened up my knee as it was fine doing speed work at the running school on Wednesday. Day off tomorrow, and not taking part in cross country this Saturday :'( Guess one positive is that I can go to a reasonably good event at Mychett and start my systematic training!

Wednesday Nov 5, 2014 #

Running 38:03 [3] 9.0 km (4:14 / km)
(injured) shoes: Asics Gel-Ds

Pain starting to go away, no pain until around 7km when I tried to stride out. No pain doing short speed work at running school in the morning. Hills tomorrow.

Tuesday Nov 4, 2014 #

Still hurting a tad but a bit better today.

Note
(injured)

Read online that running with this sort of injury can prologue the running time so for the moment it's to to R.I.C.E.

Orienteering 1:16:36 [3] 14.65 km (5:14 / km)
(injured)

Red Bull Robin Hood

Best value for money orienteering race for years. Good run for 60 minutes before my knee started to cease up and I was struggling to run.

Got 3/5 challenges I did and missed one. Need to learn to climb a rope though even dad beat me on that one. Pretty happy that I hit the target in the archery though! Orienteering wise I was good but missed a few in the light green. Lost 20 points because I was late in which cost me 6 places, don't think that would of happened if my knee wasn't hurting so much.

Definitely worth the trip up north for this one! Don't know what course I'll run tomorrow, I'll have to ice my knee tonight and see how I feel warming up.
