Beaver Brook - chilly day, made more so by the wind. Was a bit underdressed. Had planned to be out for 4-5 hours, but called it quits at 3 as I was getting chilled.

Red course set by Paul Regan - really messed up a few controls out there. Bobble approaching 3 - stopped short at the logged swath before the larger trail and screwed around there for about 90 seconds before moving on further. Took south approach to 4 along the logging ride - jumped off that early at the small spur trail, then ran into Peter Goodwin, who was mightily bewildered about his location. realized we we still to the W of the hilltop, so circled around that to the N and wandered my way in. Got a video call from the grandkids (4 1/2 and 2 years old) on the last part of this leg, so was chatting with them as a pleasant distraction. Then bobbled 5 a bit high, didn't connect the boulder cluster on the ground to the one on the map, circled up into the reentrant under the circle, then back down for a loop in the other direction before stumbling into it. Wary on the approach into 8, the shallow reentrant - could see a streamer, but the flag was perfectly positioned behind a downed log. Cussed the mapper (oh, wait - that was me...) for the undersized boulders on the map at control 9, but they were obvious, especially with the flag right there. Got a bit high heading on the sidehill to 10, through the thicker green with random rock features above, then down the reentrant with the short thick hemlocks to the flag. OK to 11, sloppy execution to 12, and 13 uncertain approaching 13, as the flag was right behind a large tree. Had hoped to be faster, but given the bobbles and inability to run hard - a close to acceptable outcome.
