Road - running 36:10 [2] 3.3 mi (10:58 / mi)
weight:167.5lbs shoes: Nike Air Pegasus

Wow. A slow jog looks to be all that's left in the tank. Curse this high-gravity planet and its medical mysteries.

Hike 15:00 [2] 1.0 mi (15:00 / mi)
weight:167.5lbs shoes: Heavy leather boots

One hour walk in woods with two (visiting) dogs. Trails really awful in spots. Nice to be out. Sunny. Geese flying NORTH - a good sign.

Hike 15 [1]
weight:168.5lbs shoes: Heavy leather boots

Three walks, each of one hour, around town, one with visiting dogs. I believe staying vertical and moving is still a good idea for now. I don't think any of this should be counted as much - say 5 minutes per walk. Very nice to be outside.

Hike 1:00:00 [1] 1.0 mi (1:00:01 / mi)
shoes: Hospital Socks

AM hospital walks. IV removed. Shower. More discussion about discharge. Medical mysteries abound, but not to be resolved here. Discharged. Hug nurse KellyMac. Say goodbye to all. Go home.

Hike 40:00 [1] 2.0 mi (20:00 / mi)
shoes: Heavy leather boots

OUTSIDE! Walk Fiona to the gym and back. Feel weak and very much not myself. I wonder how much of my conditioning over the last two months is completely lost. Maybe all of it. This would not have happened on Krugg.

Hike 1:30:00 [1] 1.5 mi (1:00:00 / mi)
shoes: Hospital Socks

Weary intervals around the hospital's 4th floor. See yesterday for details. Notice that I badly need a haircut, adding to the weirdo persona my constant walking has likely engengendered. "Who is that guy? Where is he going?" I've secreted my cell phone in a small pocket, and use it frequently to send and receive text messages - mostly to my many children who worry about me and demand answers I do not have to medical questions. Thinking about my pace, I believe it is no more than one mph. Nasogastic tube removed - gag - mid-afternoon. Progress. Begin special Mac-relentless-lobbying-to-be-discharged Tuesday, well before plan.

Hike 1:00:00 [1] 2.0 mi (30:00 / mi)
shoes: Hospital Socks

Am told that walking is "good" for an intestinal blockage; under the theory, I suppose that being vertical and moving all helps in obvious ways. I vow to do my best with this, even though I feel really, really awful, and, of course am fasting. My appearance is none too wonderful, with the nasogastic tube in my nose providing a Tin Man look and the flapping open-backed hospital gown for fashion - I set out with a wheeled always-beeping, battery-low I.V. contraption for upper body conditioning. I was given permission to go "anywhere on the fourth floor", by my nurses; but I felt shunned, Quasimoto-like, by other nursing stations; and I settled eventually on a quiet rectangular loop that avoided as much humanity as possible. Hospitals are interesting places, with surprising nooks and crannies, and many crazy humans. We have nothing at all like this on Krugg. A map would have been helpful. 120min/2=60, 60/30=2.
