Orienteering 47:00 [3] 3.5 km (13:26 / km)
(injured)

The Gib. Aus Champs Middle Distance. Course 7. This was probably not the best event to recommence orienteering after a long layoff - because I couldn't run and I couldn't remember how to navigate! This became very obvious at the start triangle, where I suddenly felt very disoriented and took about 3 minutes to work out where I was - mainly because I mistakenly thought I was at 1! How embarressing! Especially as lots of people in the next couple of start groups went through! But I wasn't going to get going until I had my head in the right space. After that I was fine and navigated cleanly until 6, where I took a slow route, and then muffed aorund 8 and 9, where I didn't have a plan. I went pretty slowly and careful, as the terrain was quite rough, but managed to jog across the flats at the end. Overall I was just glad to be there and glad to be in the event.
