Park Run (Lakeview - rebuild) 45:16 [3] 5.0 km (9:03 / km)
shoes: grey/white

Fortunately no wind today and while it was wintery cool when we got going it would be very pleasant temperature.
S-1 9:20 felt capable of going much faster at the start and was overtaking other walkers left, right and centre (and I mean that) 20 sec faster than last week.
1-2 9:33 7:48 confession - this contains a long steady downhill section and it was awkward to walk so i broke - because of a higher HR beginning point I'd hoped for better feeling than I got.
2-T 3:46/20:54 no running in this section so pleased with that improvement - but feeling a bit off.
T-3 4:26 some downhill running but not full on effort.
3-4 10:25 Couldn't summon a consistent pace. Found it really tough on all parts of hills.
4-5 9:29 Walk - disappointed.

Bike 20:00 [3]
max:94 shoes: white puma

Poor time management compounded by convenient trip to engravers and a great lack of enthusiasm for a Gym5 session (maybe Monday) so opted for bike with view to going as high in revs as I could. Pretty pleased with numbers. may not have been the best session in normal circumstances but certainly better than nothing and changed things up.

gym class (Body Pump) 50:00 [3]

Had to disappear early to get to a school before Recess to check out gates and the newly cleared section - now rough open. all good.

gym class (Body Pump) 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: black+blue

Dropped the weights (NO not dropped the weights) as had flu jab yesterday. Not too bad but feeling chilly all through the class as I got wet on way from car to entrance and didn't generate enough heat to dry me out.

gym class (Cross Trainer) 1:00:00 [4]
shoes: white puma

Focus on shoulders - pairs and rotation of activities interspersed with cardio. I
didn't manage to beat the successive targets but did on the second lot where all activities were included. (burpees, split jumps, clean and press)
The number for today was 87 - which is the number of kms Cory, Kerry and Ivan are running over next weekend in South Africa in the Comrades Run. It's 87 this year because it's uphill.(91 when downhill) Fortunately we only had 87 squat jumps, 87 Star Jumps and 87 High Knees.

walking 25:00 [2]
shoes: black+blue

Pharmacy visit. Hamstring still a bit tight after yesterday's O. Nice time of evening to be out - but getting quite nippy by the end. Tomorrow will be a very different story. Put all fly away objects into enclosure.

Event (NOY3 Fassifern Ridge) 1:26:00 [3] 3.4 km (25:18 / km)
shoes: new black O

Managed to avoid a blister this week - so taping over nail bed seems to be the way. Having been consulted (without seeing the course or map - just a hypothetical) about which way the course should go (ie where to put the bloody hard slippery climb) 6 weeks ago I was pleased that SR took my advice. However the interesting thing was that the decision was made during the drought ie very rocky, dusty dry descent or climb. I suggested that people would prefer to climb slowly rather than have unsteady footing downhill. As it turned out, not actually knowing that was the leg he was referring to i chose a route he hadn't even considered - and was complimented for it. Also a comparison with someone who took the obvious route (male and taller and stronger in bush) he took possibly 1:30 less than me - so i was very happy about that - lateral thinking on my behalf.
Such a lovely area but oh so very tough physically as witnessed by my km rate. Only jogged the tracks and very little possible anywhere else. So what was "slippery" due to dry and gravelly conditions was still the same, but in wet conditions. Lovely conditions, including the two showers during the course, but quite a few of us were quickly shivering in the arduous finish shute which was pure log scramble.
Had a lot of trouble initially with telling myself which way to go from triangle. Generally navigation after that was quite good only a bit low on the steep section to 10 - but setter tells me rockface is 1 contour too low so I was happy with what I did. A couple of slight relocations but very early on in legs and pleased with outcomes. Happy to take on the green #7-#8 rather than track all the way around and the attack point hesitancy would still have existed. Vegetation change wasn't as clear as I would have liked. Admit to "following" #10-#11 but no other choice.
