Decided yesterday that i'd take today off and it was a good shout. Body definitely tired, likely a combination of DOMS from the hilly run on Friday and the spin yesterday. Best not to attempt too much.

Killorglin-Board of Works

On the road earlyish to avoid the heat but also makes sense to get training out of the way for the day. Thought it would be cooler than it was this early, but was wrong, not uncomfortable but still warm.

Legs feeling yesterday's run this morning but think they were ok on the bike. They did get tired nearing home but to be expected.

Couldn't get the HR too high on the Glencar road from Killorglin, was moving nicely, but HR didn't creep up too much, not even after the dog chased me!

Kept pushing on the way back, feeling it at this stage too. Texted Mary at Kissane's to say when i'd be home, beat that time.

Mountain Rescue out and about too, saw them leaving Killarney with lights on, was passed by a jeep near Beaufort, and probably the same jeep came against me with blue lights flashing nearing the glencar turn. So hard to figure out what they were up to.

shorter lap but probably should have done an even shorter lap.

Right calf wasn't too happy after about 20 minutes, more slightly uncomfortable, not pain, but I was taking it easy. Legs felt ok other than that, pace was slow.

Slow probably best in the heat & sun.

10.55 for the climb, this week's excuse, probably still recovering from virus and the heat. It was hot average temperature 26.5 according to the garmin.

Wasn't feeling great I think from it on the way back but cooler underneath Torc which helped a lot. So overall good weather had an affect. HR higher than average for the climb so that tells a story too.

Slowed a small bit from the bridge on the way down and at the cafe.

Road wasn't the plan but had no choice with a flat tyre on the MTB, and when I changed it later found a broken spoke so no MTB until it's sorted.

Car was showing around 26 degrees when I got home. Didn't mind it too much cycling.

Just did a quick loop around to Glenflesk and back. Lads home just before I left so didn't want to spend too long out.

Lovely day sun wise with a small bit of wind from one of the westerly directions.

New surface on the Gap Road, but ok in terms of loose chippings if you didn't stray too close to the edge.

Got through town without much of a delay.

Won't push this week to continue recovering after last week. Also got physio tomorrow so hopefully that goes ok. That might change the plan later in the week if it's ok to chance running, not that I imagine runs will be too energetic if I do.

My focus is definitely on Autumn orienteering as opposed to Spring 2023 orienteering. I'll either have a men's relay team for c.IOC 2039 or 3/4 of Sprint Relay team in February running for Burke-O.
