Skiing - nos 35:00 [1]

Out back on waxless skis in untracked snow with Mocha. Bright sun, seemed warm. Old M could handle 8-10" of snow. My first time on classic skis in this ski-scarce winter for me.

Walking 1:01:35 [1] 2.72 mi (22:39 / mi) +7m 22:28 / mi

Boston cardiac surgery day. First anti-coag clinic at CH then 67mi to Boston, the last 9 took about an hour. At Cox 630, I got a pretty much “good to go” from the surgeon although I still have SOB with exertion. It will take time and time will tell. Asked him if this was the last time I’d see him (suspected so) & he said “I hope so”. For parting smiles, I observed we likely wouldn’t be drinking beer at a pub together & it would not break my heart. It closed a psychological chapter.

Hi 30s in Boston, a NW breeze on the Charles but not biting. Walked over Longfellow, along Cambridge Parkway, back over MOS bridge to Cox where I started. Got a blueberry muffin and coffee inside MGH, got in the car & left the city feeling like I had a pretty good city day. Back to snow-filled woods.

Pleasant moment on the Charles

Cardio Rehab 50:00 [2]

Cardio rehab. More shoveling this morning. I had work, Beth had cataract surgery, I had the rehab (2.5x to Concord Hospital) and then there was the March town meeting which wasn't contentious & not very interesting - left early.

Snow shovelling 50:00 [2]

An actual blizzard today. Hard to believe it was bare ground yesterday. We went to Gibson’s & cafe to get out before being stuck in. Leaving Gibson’s, needed help - someone to dig out the car directly behind it because of drifting (a nice young man working on the storefront sidewalk). Got halfway home in white out conditions & realized my computer was not in the car! To add to my displeasure or distress, the driver window wiper was accumulating ice so that window was about 50% useful visibility.

Got back to the store, asked the young women in the kids’ section right by our exit door if she’d seen a laptop computer. And she had! And led me right to it, on the far side, remarking "good thing it’s quiet in the store”. Still where I left it to go browsing. Back to the whiteout, stopped 3x to clear blades. Really seeing only snow plows, town and private. Got to Allen, driving slowly on wrong side so I could see the driveway situation. Maybe 3 vehicles behind. Looked in the drive, unplowed but, the second piece of luck, was that Eric, our plow guy, was literally right behind us on Allen. Pulled out of his way and had a freshly plowed drive to park in, out of the way.

Several sessions of this, including ice dam prophylaxis. More than a foot by 6pm. Not so OOB doing this but still not like climbing stairs.

Cardio Rehab 50:00 [2]

Exit rehab now with much more day light - no longer the sunset flooding the space.

Erie how quiet it is outside this eve - first time in a good # of days that it has been calm.

Walking 40:00 [1]

Walking with Mocha in the brush dump to the "way back" - windy but I was well-covered and in bright sun, an hour later given DST. Did not find any new trash.

Mid-PM with Peter & Mel & kids to the slough. Busy day with its being Beth's birthday.
