Trail/woods running 35:35 [3] 3.8 mi (9:22 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 1011

SloGo with the dogs, lucky them as I wanted a longer run on a road loop but had no energy. Went out around 5:50pm - flt hot/muggy - deer flies in full force it seems. Spent nearly 7 hrs working on boat in drive which, among other things (like progress), provides a decent dose of mosquitoes.

Track 8:20 [3] 2.0 km (4:10 / km)

10 200s around 49-50sec

Track 8:00 [4] 2.0 km (4:00 / km)

5 400s: 100, 95,93,92,88. Haven't had any interest in same for quite some time...

Wanted to visit a track - errands resulted in showing up at BHS &, no surprise, legions of kids - first track then lacrosse. Left but turned around because was fixated on track & not Nottingcook w/ dogs. Sun out first time in 4 days, bit on warm side. Staked out 200m on far side & began running 200s around 49, not as easy as I wanted (did 10). End of week flatness, maybe the 6:20ish mile was not going to happen. Track group started breaking up - soon had entire track, just a few youngsters inside or around. But, presto enough appeared a girls? lacrosse gp. Ran 5 400s, hi 90s then under 95, last was 87.99, felt ok. Heard clapping "good job" twice & "nice performance" from a few girls in the lacrosse group which made me pleased as well as embarrassed. I was not the least aware I was noticed but an old man doing more than shuffle gets some att'n evidentally. Might have tried another sub90 but was now self-conscious. It was not part of plan anyway. So that was it.

Road running 56:51 [3] 6.9 mi (8:14 / mi) +130m 7:47 / mi
shoes: Loco training

Home fm work, another cool, overcast day. Decent energy but no racing w/ myself. Getting bored with this route; time to make some changes. Have not mixed shoes enough. Need to buy a pair as well. About 3.5 intensity.

Road running 50:23 [2] 5.18 mi (9:44 / mi)
shoes: Loco training

Noon, figure 8 with Diane - different approach to old routes. Cool.
Double Birch

Trail/woods running 10:08 [3] 1.15 mi (8:49 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 1011

Went to BHS but track 'festooned' w/ kids. Wanted some more 1600s to see how that would go but not to be. Went home, picked up 2 excited dogs & went to Nottingcook for 2 loops there...not so sterile.

Trail/woods running 8:04 [4] 1.15 mi (7:01 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 1011

Decent effort & dogs beat, which is generally good.

Note

Nearly Rorschach mood...

Track 20:05 [4] 4.8 km (4:11 / km)
shoes: Loco training

3 evenly enough paced metric miles, centered on 50-100 (1:40) sec 200/400 pacing: 6:48, 6:41, 6:36 - 200m rest. Started w/ long sleeve shirt & then singlet.

Road running 48:26 [3] 6.0 mi (8:04 / mi)

From Cedar Point over to Rte 114. Beth drove off, 5.8 was goal. Dogs intent stare as she drove away. Rolling, wooded area, very few cars. Nice temp. Based on distance & assumed pace, expected to see her earlier (odometer 5.75) Saw, think the same, snapper twice - same sz, same amount of moss - first time, poked it to safety w/ stick, second not convenient to do so - hope it made it. Gmaps dist makes more sense than odometer.

Still more ticks this am. Had to have 35 ticks aboard in 24 hrs - maybe 6-7 bitten in somewhat or more & many crawling, smaller than I've seen in NH.... Even 4 more this eve, has to be a record of some kind, prob easy AP record, no one else so stupid:-). Clearly demonstrates how (foolishly) indifferent I was but the apparent density of ticks was something unprecedented for me.

Grassy carpet by the Cedar Pt sea...

From Cedar Point

Sunday Jun 7, 2009 #

Road running 53:00 [2] 4.0 mi (13:15 / mi)

Jog at Cedar Pt & second slow one bk at Bobby?s. First was dog appeasement; Zoe managed a mucky swamp 100yds before end at campground, ignored me as I knew what she was about to do. Astonishing, behaviour-modifying # of ticks today...crawling on me & dogs. Will stick to nongrassy areas for rest of LI time. Not alot of energy. More in am but dogs determined what I did...too nice to them.... Last tick of day was under watchband, discovered around 9pm.

Morning calm...
