Trail/woods running 27:30 [2] 2.5 mi (11:00 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 1011

Dog pacification, bright, chilly. Trails groomed for snowmobiling (Fri eve) which made them hard & easy to jog on. Should go back before tomorrow's snow.

A Set of loops

Road running 48:34 [3] 5.45 mi (8:55 / mi) +90m 8:29 / mi
shoes: New Balance 1011

Ran home from east end of South Bow Road. Beth dropped me off in returning from Manchester. 4 miles on the edge of Nottingcook map.

Skate skiing 24:59 [2] 2.5 mi (10:00 / mi) +20m 9:45 / mi

Went back to Nottingcook loop for skate ski just before last light. Was waffling but ever present dog nag &, more importantly, groomed, good surface that will be gone in am, won the toss. 4 snowmobiles but light enough, lit the surface yellow fm behind as first sign, most surprised to encounter on that particular section of trail, early birds. 5 miles for dogs means Zoe will be glued to floor until the morning.

Belly-up Mocha this morning, died and gone to heaven...

Road running 50:07 [3] 6.03 mi (8:19 / mi) +130m 7:47 / mi
shoes: New Balance 992

Ran home fm Garry's, got out of work early, car not ready. Nice to be headed south with a tail wind, day not too old. Get out of work early...my face a moderate mess due to probable poison sumac in brush burned last Sat/Sun - looking pretty ugly but nothing wrong with energy...taking some prednisone.
Did 6 splits fm standard run home fm work & they were comparable to some of better runs home last spring - must be rested fm 2 days' skiing.

Saw flock of robins enroute & again just by Garry's as Beth was dropping me off. Also, caught a mouse (none since the the influx with arrival of cold), so now a new member of the household & will likely have to find a thread left unfinished. No cats anymore, Pooka in '08, Scotty not 2 wks ago, eighteen years of cats.

Alpine 50:00 [2] 3.0 mi (16:40 / mi)

Alpine at Sunapee, perhaps a form of cheating in a log.... Plenty of fresh air, balance challenge (no falls), isometric quad exercises. Seems a shame not to vote some credit for a pm well spent outdoors. Windy, snow showers. 36 mi to slope fm NHH. Pd $40 for late start to half day. Better to arr at 2pm, pay $20 for 2 hrs. & call it quits...esp useful for those who live really close.

Lake Sunapee glimpse...

Classic skiing 27:25 [2] 2.5 mi (10:58 / mi)

Winter storm watch type of day. Slushy roads, hospital parking lot makes bad look worse. Went to SPS (which looked ever so much cleaner/better) for ski. Overlooked fact that I could not drive thru SPS so used XC run route which made distance covered easy to tell. Only 1 loop as I had to get bk to work. Should be groomed/good Friday. Alpine tomorrow pm at Sunapee is expectation. Managing 4-5 pm's downhill helps liven up winter. So would Caribbean sailing.....

Road running 51:58 [3] 5.5 mi (9:27 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 992

Nice sunny, blue-dome midday. Ran by SPS nordic ski loop, realized I probably should have been skiing for variety.

Road running 43:00 [2] 4.0 mi (10:45 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 992

SloGo w/ Diane, her complaining about the man in her life. She ran 12 mi on both Sat & Sun. Nice temp, legs felt good.

Road running 1:02:11 [3] 6.4 mi (9:43 / mi) +90m 9:19 / mi
shoes: New Balance 992

Over Wood Hill loop, cw, most of climb in first 2 miles, low 30's, bright/sunny, nice. Took along a Scottish 5 days map, wondered why I made a bunch of route choices that I did. Also, West Point 1 to 15 which takes a certain mindset to dive in to. Started before any doldrums might have arrived.

Going to work, Brae Burn GC, Newton, Ma., winter '77...
