First I did the Skyline
Then I had a Bob Graham style lunch break at the car.
11 minutes, a bag of slushy mashed potato, a choccy milk drink, a bottle of sport drink. Re-stock on water.
Then off again round the Skyline.
I probably shouldn't have run all the way round the first time because second time out I was walking the hills (but then I suppose I'd have walked them first time...). Anyway I gues I was in a trough going 20% slower - so something over 4 hours looked to be on the cards if I did a second lap.
It was a windy day . Wind is the worst thing. And the very worst place was Turnhouse, it was ripping you off the ridge on the first lap - so much so that I thought that if it was the same along the rest of the ridge then things were going to get impossible. It wasn't so bad elsewhere it was just very annoying. Reaching Turnhouse for the second time I think the wind was stronger and colder and I began to dither (maybe I was tired-er), though I think the beating I was getting from the wind was mainly responsible. I managed to get down the ridge to the coll to Carnethy, put some more clothes on but was really cold. I decided the game was up, kinda, I dithered; a few strides towards Carnethy, a few strides in the opposite direction down towards Glencourse, a few strides towards Carnethy. " look you clown, you are getting cold, stop mucking about. If you carry on you'll be back an hour after dark, you probably won't get warm going up Carnethy, and then you'll never get warm and you be done, get out of the wind and go home.
So, skirted north round the base of Turnhouse down to Flotterstone and back up the route to Hill End. Some of that mashed potato seemed to kick in at Flotterstone (2 hrs later) and I ran all the way back ( along a line of squaddies with full kit trudging back over to Dreghorn), apart from the sheer climb up to Castle Law.
Skyline 3:31 (26km 1900m / 16.25 miles 6200 ft)
lunch 11 ( 0 km 0m / 0 miles 0 ft )
Tunrhouse gap and back 3:08 (18 km 1200m / 11.25 miles 3900 ft)
27.5 miles 10,100 feet (about 40% of a BG)
not really epic,
just hard, wind is shite

Note
Was felling pretty not up for it in the morning after a week of terrible sleep and that thing with the single leg squats.
Pleased I got out and did so much,
Including the psychological thing of heading back out for a second skyline (though common sense prevailed). Felt like having reached Turnhouse a second time getting round again was do-able.
I feel like a good full on rest week is coming due, either that or I need to cut back in the week to allow for Saturdays.
Carnethy was pretty tiring I think (even if only an hour).
I'm not going to try and do the same 4 day week I have been as that would jump my training up too much I think.
