Sprint Race at Lossiemouth. Loved it :)
Made a mess of the quarry but was only 10 seconds behind some of the GB euromeeting girls so I'm pretty pleased.

Day 3 - Culbin

Feeling exhausted now, but had another clean run - feel like I'm almost waiting for the mistake to happen but it's all holding together. These sandune areas definitely suit my orienteering much more than the tougher, hilly areas.

Day 2 - Carse of Ardersier

Had another good run. Didn't really have any mistakes at all, a few hesitations but pretty much perfect. Just not fit enough to keep a high pace the whole way round and had to have a cheeky walk near the end. Enjoyed it and really pleased that my navigation is holding together and that I am remembering to have a plan and look up :)

Day 1 - Lossie

Really enjoyed it - small misses at 1 and 5 (from not looking up and running past very close to both controls). Think I might have been slow on the long legs, but pleased with the rest of the navigation and that I adapted my technique between the different terrains. Oh and 13 I also ended up in the adjacent block of forest and took a minute to click why it wasn't fitting.
Total time loss: 3-4 minutes

Tomorrow I want to have distinct attack points, keep on with the compass work, and try to visualise the control circles.

Much needed rest day before the next 7 days of hard racing. Not bothered what position I finish in, just want to eliminate silly mistakes, have good decision processes, practice my compass work, and be generally happy with the week.

Lagganlia classic, pre running to check controls. Fine in all the technical bits and then messed up the end in the vague bit - got to be more disciplined next week with my compass.

Fun coaches relay around lagganlia, lots of fun, but squished my balloon! Great end to a great week of coaching :)

Day 5 - La Campane (Narbonne)

Actually the worst area I have ever been to in my entire life (and coming from ebor that is saying something!). Why anyone would map this is beyond me. Was essentially an entire map of knee high spikey undergrowth with no route choice but straight through it for the majority of the course. Hating life the whole way! Also there was a really weird man doing a headstand in the forest.

Day 4 - Conilhac-Montbrun (Montbrun des Corbières)

Mega hard and mega boiling - moved from the pyrenees down to the 36 degree coast. Somehow had my best race of the week - round the paths, avoid the terrain was pretty much the plan! Spent about 5 mins stuck in a spikey bush on my way to 5, and had a bit of a mare down the slope at 10 & 11. Also took a massive detour just to re-pass the drinks point again.
Apart from the mank terrain I actually quite enjoyed having to be more disciplined and accurate and slow with the map reading. Only 5mins down on Bodil Holmstrom which I would class as a success :)

Day 3 - La Quillane

Loved this area, and got better again :) Read the contours well at a pace I could manage to map read at. Also the only day I ever broke 10 min/km's haha.

Day 2 - Les Airelles (Font-Romeu)

Improved a bit on yesterday. A few wobbles at 1, 6 & 9, from not having enough discipline in my technique. Three minutes lost at 11 faffing around every boulder in the area! Need much better map contact here - the areas are much more simplified compared to what you can see on the ground.

Orienteering race 6:34 [3] 0.7 km (9:23 / km)

Qualifier 1 - absolutely awful! Had the maze 90 degrees the wrong way, so took forever to get 2. Then the finish wasn't where it was mapped, so had a nice long "run in" i.e. wander around the start!

Orienteering race 5:32 [3] 0.7 km (7:54 / km)

Qualifier 2 - much better control flow

Orienteering race 12:57 [4] 1.6 km (8:06 / km)

Ultrasprint final - loved it, so much maze fun :) finished 2nd woman but ages behind rachael. Super tricky course, but only one error at 16 so pretty pleased on the whole.

Found out that I got the job I wanted!!! :D So excited. Not sure where my placement will be yet, but exciting times getting to move somewhere new and hunt out some new running routes :)
