Orienteering 1:01:56 [3] *** 5.1 km (12:09 / km) +60m 11:28 / km
spiked:11/13c shoes: X-talon 2022

A very wet Spencer Park. A mostly orangey red course, which I responded to with some fairly sloppy orienteering and didn't get caught out enough by that. Mostly clean but I know I could have been a fair bit more efficient out there. Nice to get out though on a weekend not much else is happening.

Run 57:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2022

Hagley figure 8. Thought I had faffed round too long and missed the bearable weather window, but now glad I went out when I did and not right now.

Run 45:30 [3] 8.25 km (5:31 / km)
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2022

Thursday office run, team of 4 this week. Pretty much same circuit only with Geoff's start and finish, which apparently adds 100m (or that's where the GPS watch error sat today)

Hard work today

Run 1:12:08 [3]
shoes: X-talon 2022

Bottle Lake circuit. A surprisingly good time, I'm going to have to go through the archives to find out exactly how good. Did spend most of the early stages thinking I'd gone out far too fast and was going to die on the sand ridge (no) or the purgatory stretch (no, but it was a suffer fest). Includes a bit of wading (much less than expected), about a minute walking and a very brief spot of cross country football.

Edit: 2nd fastest time in 13 visits (that number's a bit disappointingly low but I guess I've had some long injury or motivation breaks while in Christchurch). The fastest time (in August 2018) is 1:12 flat, a suspiciously round number and I would have still been learning the circuit then - I definitely finish it differently now from how I have done in the past. So probably can't be too direct on the comparison but I won't claim today as a PB, just a good effort. If I cut that down much further I might have to add some distance...

Run 45:00 [3] 8.15 km (5:31 / km)
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2022

Suggested a lazy pack run on the office teams board but everyone but Dave interpreted that as be too lazy for a run (OK, I should probably say there were actual genuine excuses all round, just in case any of the others ever see this). But that was fine as we seem to be a good pace match, and running with him probably kept going longer than I would have alone

Rowing warm up/down 4:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2020

Interrupted by a fire alarm, so 1+3 minutes

Gym-bunny session 40:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2020

Thought I might have been subconciously rushing it to make up for the fire alarm interruption but going quite well despite that, but I think there was at least a 5 minute discrepancy between the clocks I could see at the start and the end of the session.

Bouldering 1:30:00 [4]

A very nice way to spend a not very nice PM.

Gym-bunny session 40:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2020

Managed to salvage something from a fairly disrupted week with work-life balance definitely tilted towards the work end. Pretty busy for middle of the day (getting towards after-work numbers) so I don't think I'll habitually switch to Fridays.

Run 44:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2022

Just enough around the park to make a 2 hour weekend. At times felt like I could stretch it out a bit more, but they never lasted very long. The couple whose cute pup decided that running with me was more fun than walking with them are lucky my place isn't really dog suitable, otherwise I would have totally kidnapped it.

Run 1:17:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2022

Base builder, though I came close to calling that quits in favour of a shorter version (guess it's been a few weeks since any sort of proper long run). But there was a nice window after I finally warmed into it at about 40 mins and before starting to struggle after the hour mark.

Social climbing 1:30:00 [4]

At the Y with Mags until her horses called her away, and then with Mel and Dan. Mostly attempting climbs above my current grade, so not disappointed by only having 1 top (I think a new one for me) and plenty of good stuff happening on just about every attempt. A very physical session, just about needed help getting things off the shelf at the supermarket afterwards!
