Orienteering race (Forest/Moorland) 39:43 [4] **** 5.6 km (7:06 / km) +325m 5:30 / km
spiked:18/21c

Tullockroisk. Happy to be included in a EUOC team competing in the top flight - makes a nice change from the usual WSX bull5hit even if n/c.

Another pap run. Didn't make loadsa errors but the ones I did really made me angry and had no go up any hills.

Walking (XC) 59:00 [1] 4.7 km (12:33 / km) +750m 6:59 / km

Schiehallion. It would have been rude not to seeing as the weather was good and we had the time (just) and summiting it doubled my Munro total.

Running (XC) 34:30 [2] 4.7 km (7:20 / km)

Schiehallion. In contrast to the negative logs over the last couple of days of o-ing at last a positive. I was worried about coming down the mountain cause of continued left knee woe so started off fairly slow but soon speeded up and only felt some minor discomfort towards the end of the steep part of the descent. As long as the niggle doesn't get any worse than this I know I can complete the SLMM, oh yes Timbo, bring it on!

Running warm up/down (XC) 10:00 [2] 1.2 km (8:20 / km) +100m 5:53 / km

Orienteering race (Forest/Moorland) 1:43:32 [4] **** 10.7 km (9:41 / km) +540m 7:44 / km
spiked:21/28c

Tullockroisk. Oh yes, this was the 5hit. Without any doubt the biggest physical challenge of the season so far and arguably one of the most technical. Started off in a quality bit of pine forest, then out into the moorland (in parts proper heathery tough) and finally into a very steep mixed section full of intricate rock detail - almost Trossachs like.

The problem is that the quality of the o-ing area/course/weather/event means very little to me anymore. It's the result that gives me the most sense of achievement now and my result today was a pile of poo. I feel no enthusiasm whatsoever to analyse time-loss cause even if I had run totally clean I still wudda been miles off the winning time. Sort it.

Cycling warm up/down (Road) 16:15 [1] 5.9 km (2:45 / km) +10m 2:44 / km

To gym.

Strength Training (Cables) 22:30 [1]
weight:87.2kg

Had an informal session with one of the gym staff today - first time ever. A quick evaluation of me doing one-legged squats and apparently I may have inbalances between my calves/shins, my abductors/adductors, my quads/hamstrings and my glutes/hip flexors. I took the news pretty badly esp seeing as I'm supposed to fit loads of other stuff into my training program now like smr, assisted stretching and reactive wotsits and a load of udder stuff I can't even remember. At least it gives me summit else to moan about on here.

Cycling warm up/down (Road) 13:40 [2] 5.9 km (2:19 / km) +10m 2:18 / km

To gym. Sorted out the loose spokes on the front wheel, cleaned the chain and rear mech cogs - a massive improvement but I wouldn't describe it as better than new. Tim, service my bike please. Actually don't, yours has been a nightmare since you took it apart haha.

Cycling warm up/down (Road) 13:50 [2] 4.9 km (2:49 / km)

Down to G's place b4 and back up to mine after.

1) 6:25
2) 7:25

Cycling (Road) 1:18:20 [3] 39.1 km (2:00 / km) +190m 1:57 / km

Clifton - Failand - Wraxall - Nailsea - Tickenham - Clevedon - Weston/Easton in Gordano - Clifton. 6 days since I last cycled and I was ready to put in a load of effort and not let G get away from me this time - he did but only on the downhills which is ar53-backwards seeing as both me and my bike weigh a lot more. I guess aerodynamics is a lot more important than momentum on a bike. Anyway proper chuffed to finally record a decent speed over a significant distance. Knee perfect when cycling.

Running (Road/XC) 1:14:00 [3] 14.5 km (5:06 / km)

Blaise etc. Well attended Monday night run club with Tim 'only cheating myself' Britton, Mark S, Rhys M, Keith A and welcome back G! Nice evening for it and felt fairly fresh. A touch of indigestion coupled with some knee woe on the later downhills ruined the experience slightly.

Knee is the worst it's been so far since the problem surfaced in the weeks after the Xmas day crash. I've decided to get serious with it - regular icing and massage. Should really do some research and find out if there's any particular exercises I should be doing. Failing all of that as a last resort I may actually go and see someone, but probs not.
