A nice hike in the Wissahickon. Decided just to go up and down the hill behind Valley Green as I just wasn't sure what the trails would be like and how well I'd hold up and didn't want to be too far from home with freezing feet.

I'm pretty tired but feel pretty good.

Can't believe how little I needed to wear despite it never getting out of the 20's today. I knew enough not to put on an extra layer after the last few outings, but was surprised that I had to take off the middle insulating layer after an hour or so. Did most of the hike with one Craft shirt and my Gore-Tex shell, long johns and fleece lined touring pants that I had unzipped halfway up my thighs. Did I mention how much I love my Craft shirts and pants? My mittens, headband, hat and neck gaiter went on and off many times as the sun went in and out and the wind blew or stopped, but the headband was a good addition to the arsenal since it's usually my ears that get cold first. And my feet were toasty the whole time.

Was also worried that my water would freeze but I guess I drank often enough that the water in the tube of the Camelbak never froze and the water in the water bottles likewise was fine.

I'm hungry.
