Orienteering race (Dubbo Zoo) 18:58 [4] 3.4 km (5:35 / km)
shoes: asics GT-2120

Slologue at the Dubbo Zoo. Managed to get to the first control in first place in my group, but I was quickly overtaken by Ted V G on the longer run to 2. A slight wobble on the way out of 2, and on the way to number 7 were my only mistakes. The rest is not being fast. After about the 5th control I ran by myself and finished about 4th in my start group, and about 10th overall.

I managed to be one place ahead of Ian Lawford which is no mean feat these days, but Ian apparently pushed Golfer along to end up 8 seconds quicker than me. So much for my sledging about his lack of sprint training. Maybe I can make amends at UC this coming Saturday.

Orienteering (Black Mountain) 50:00 [2]
shoes: Asics GEL Trabuco

Putting out controls for Blue Lightning training. I was using the NW corner of Black Mt so had to quickly doctor the map last night, with a bit of help from Google Earth, to move the fence and loose the western half of a couple of hills to account for the GDE.

I set two loops, one short with a lot of changes of direction, and using a map with the tracks removed, and a longer loop with some longer legs through the flatter parts of the map so they could practise running straight.

Following Ben and Georgia around the long 2nd loop, and picking up the flags as I went - much easier than doing it at the end in the dark.
