run on a usgs topo through part of Prosser. sortof had a course in mind, but it kept changing based on the snow depth (zero - many feet). but wait, you might ask, a fairly significant portion of the run seems to go through a lake? whatever, it was hot out. terrain was good, totally mappable. either wide open pines or low scrub. probably needs to dry out a bit first though. everything that wasn't snow was flooded and muddy, I waded a few creeks, and at the big one at the north end even tried to break off a huge snow cornice and float across on it eskimo iceberg style, which I swear worked for like five feet before the current ran it aground and dumped me up my armpits. yea that was cold.

spring is so great around here. skis were a little draggy though, I probably should have rewaxed again this morning. apparently one coat of yellow doesn't last 85km.

ha. miscellaneous marathon. that wasn't really planned. I suppose if it was I would have brought water and food and whatnot. but I didn't burn out too bad, especially since the last 10k was downhill. three sexy fast laps around the valley (30k @ 2:55/km, I think thats the first time I broke 3:00/k for a 30k+ this year), then a death slog up and over hawk's peak.

back to the springtime sweetness. iced out trails and painfully blue sky. two laps around the valley, then a death slog up over the mountain.

snowing again. a couple inches of fluff on the trails, so things were frustratingly slow. but at least they're still grooming this week. sort of.
