running 1:11:30 [3] 14.7 km (4:52 / km)
shoes: Kyano 16

Took an old street-o map of Newport from a winter series race. Home to the edge of the map, then round all the controls and then back home. The lap of the controls was 9.5. Reading the map and running the control sites makes the run go a bit quicker.

Relaxed evening run,out through jawbone and back. Used the opportunity for thinking time. Worked on an idea sparked by kazza's suggestion that leepback had been stealing invisible's kilos. Rules on the international weight exchange market to follow

Dancing 1:00:00 [1]

2 new tango steps and then quickstep revision. I thought I had forgotten the quickstep steps, but quickly remembered once we stepped through the basics. It all came flooding back.

running 51:20 [3] 11.0 km (4:40 / km)

Port Melbourne round the beach to Albert Park and then on the South Yarra. Good run, and a cooler but still humid day. Had to pick the car up after having a couple of things looked at.
Main problem was a fault with the windscreen that made things look "fuzzy" and straight edges look a bit pixelated. Had noticed soon after I got the car, and had spoken to the service guy before, but hadn't got around to taking it in until now. When previously raised I got the usual fob-off answers. Again today, it was "the windscreen has a special heat treatment coating", and "we will have to get the manufacturers rep to look at it". When I picked up the car I asked the service manager what was being done about the screen, and he said he would look at it, giving the impression that he thought I didn't know what I was talking about. Anyway, clearly thinking he had to have a look to keep the customer happy, he opened the door and looked through the windscreen. His immediate reaction was "we will order a new windscreen, when would you like to have it fitted."

I really hate it when they treat you as if you are a complete moron; but I love it when they have to eat humble pie.

Warm up before street o.

pseud-o 48:30 [4] * 11.4 km (4:15 / km)

Street-O at Avondale Heights.
Start with the good - Probably the best running I have done for a while. Very humid night, but pleased with the actual running part. So atleast there was one good thing for the evening's efforts.
The bad. Sub-optimal control selection. Even with this should have run over 1 k shorter had the ugly not happened.
The ugly - Combination of a some mapping faults, a map misread and a couple of controls not exactly where the centre of the circle indicated. First control was a bit earlier than expected and I went past and had to come back to it. meant I was once again in what had been the chasing pack. Then happened again on my 5th. Control was earlier tan indicated on the map, and I wasn't looking, because it shouldn't have been there. Had to come back again.
In making a decision about the order for the last 6 controls thought there was a footpath between the ends of two courts. There wasn't, cost about a km. Would have done a different order for the controls had I not misread the map. Then my penultimate control was in a "park" with houses around the edges. The map showed a number of cleared strips from the surrounding roads. As all the other footpaths on the maps had been shown as dotted lines, took the strips to be like vacant blocks. Wrong. They were in fact footpaths. So didn't see the foot path, because I wasn't looking for it, but did see the vacant block next to it, with the 2m high pailing fence at the back, blocking access to the park. Went round the long way, costing some more distance. Not the only person to do it. The footpath should have been shown as a track like all the rest on the map.
So probably covered an extra 1+ km, and overshot 2 controls.

running 53:00 [3] 11.0 km (4:49 / km)
shoes: Kyano 16

Given the weather forecast for tomorrow, decided to swap the days around. Round the streets of Willie using an old street-o map. Did all 20 controls plus a bit extra at a comfortable pace
