12 AM

road run 20:00 [3] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Crisp cold -frosty day at Clevedon. Arrived early and rather tham get cold jogged out to 3 mile mark from Boxing day butcoming back swept up by Clevedon AC runner going to training who engage in conversation and ran quickly back. Shame I could not say the same about Boxing day where I staggered the last mile being past by the world and his beloved.
2 AM

road run 58:30 [3] 6.5 mi (9:00 / mi)

Crisp night and we seemed to run a bit quicker than sometimes. Pete picked up the pace on the way home. Really pleased to see him getting confident in his running. Felt like AC whilst the kids swam at Clifton High -15 years ago.

Also possible cold seem to have gone -until I got home -lots of oranges required

Monday Feb 2, 2015 #

off road 1:08:46 [3] 6.0 mi (11:28 / mi)

Blaise starting to sneeze and splutter with the possible start of a cold. So not standard run. Ran opposite sense. Zig, zags on Henbury gof course, ugly house, field, castle, grass, complete loop, sharp decent.

Note

Well Jan is over. I intended to kick start my training over Xmas by running everyday which I did. Somebody then said yes but its a question of how long can you keep it up? I thought well that's right! I have little natural talent for running but I do have a talent to train -so why not use it. So I ran everyday in January. Result I feel much happier with myself, less stressed, healthier etc. I suppose the phrase would be work/ life balance.
Don't actually know if I am running much better but am enjoying it much more. No intention to run everyday in Feb. and it will probably be March before I move into more focused/ planned training.

Well done me!

Warm up and down

orienteering 1:23:46 [5] 7.3 km (11:28 / km)

QO galloppen at Rams Coombe = Quantock south. Another crisp cold day. First controls in open conifer but quite a lot of brashing & debris -despite trying to fight terrain I an now slow through this. Then we went into Quantock north with its delightful deciduous woods. Ok to 16 small platform. Failed to see small platform by the path but went in at almost the right place and to almost the right height and almost found the flag. Probably lost 3 mins here. But could regard this as a time gain compared with others, (Same time as Chris Kelsey-then his wheels fell off. Good pace till control 20 a small enclosure where I took 5.40 compared to 1.40. Compass from previous control (twice) -too low and not quite far enough.

Later mistakes left a sense of disappointment on what was otherwise a joyous day. Quantock north is a special area.
