7 AM

running 55:24 [3] 5.97 mi (9:17 / mi)

Easy pre-brekkie up the downs and back.. only going to go to Dunstable road runners once a fortnight otherwise I'd be killed off.. leg still being weird
7 PM

Gym 20:00 [2]

quick core

Tuesday Apr 29, 2014 #

5 PM

running 25:14 [3] 2.69 mi (9:23 / mi)

Morning jog, still strapping calf, abso fine when running just feels weird when I stop
7 PM

running 20:00 [3] 2.12 mi (9:26 / mi)

Slightly shorter warmup, shuffle cooldown

running 26:13 [4] 3.94 mi (6:39 / mi)

1 and a half lap time trial (1.25 miles) in 7.56mins, was soo stiff didn't really get into it till the end half a lap - the hill killed me(bloody insanity!:P)
then 12 x 90seconds with 45 secs recovery, out and back. Started at the top corner of the field and so the way out was downhill and the was uphill, got about 20m less each uphill one but that was to be expected. All good fun!
Could feel whatever this problem I have right now in the recoveries, seeing Grant on Friday so hopefully that'll make things a bit better:)

Sunday Apr 27, 2014 #

Note

calf was a bit more painful than yesterday, well its not actually painful but it just feels weird to run on, somethings not right ermmmm
11 AM

running 10:00 [2] 1.2 mi (8:20 / mi)

jogged to an from where I was manning the road crossing as a warm up, couldn't do a cool down
12 PM

orienteering 56:00 [2] 3.53 mi (15:52 / mi)

With the amount of times I've been to Mardley Heath you'd expect that I'd be okay with it, but no... abso awful run, leave it at that!

Note

strapped up my calf and it felt okay, fine when running..still feeling a bit weird now though..
12 PM

orienteering 14:28 [3] 1.59 mi (9:06 / mi)

SE Sprint Champs at Oaklands College Course 3
Okay run, fuelled by adrenaline more than anything and felt pretty quick. Was going well until the forested area and on a 1:3000 map the scale was far too crazy for my liking and was a bit off in this section, maybe wasting 20 seconds in total. Through the buildings was fine (simple navigation) but managed to mispunch..17 was inbetween 2 walls and tbh I didn't check control descriptions at all and I went to one on the other side of the wall in the same place on the map...Would have won by a long margin...
1 PM

running 20:00 [2] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

mostly cool down after the two heats.. was helping out on the start so had to quickly get out after the last start time for my run and couldn't do any warmup really
2 PM

orienteering 16:25 [3] 2.02 mi (8:08 / mi)

Second heat, decided to run the mens class seeing as the likes of Sarah Rollins and Ruth were running it and I couldn't win it anyway (2 times added together). Went pretty okay, hestitation on number 2 ~10 seconds and then the complete wrong route choice to 17 adding on about 30 seconds. Came 14th out of 40 on the mens but the quickest was 13.38 and Sarah did 14.11...I have quite a way to go hahah

7 AM

running 47:24 [3] 4.89 mi (9:42 / mi)

very easy plod over to the copse and back, although it felt like 2 steps forward one step back. Legs feeling an awful lot better than yesterday but still pretty sore. Have a realllyyy tight left calf which is very twingy and sometimes sends short, stabbing pains through my leg, think I might have strained it or something. Doing lots of stretching/icing/rolling and will take it easy running-wise this weekend at the SE sprint/middle champs seeing as I'm the only one:P

Thursday Apr 24, 2014 #

4 PM

Gym 1:10:00 [2]

after yesterdays tough run and insanity on Tuesday my legs are absolutely shot!...like literally have been a cripple all day may as well of been in a wheelchair, could hardly walk...:P so id thought I'd give athletics a miss and go a very easy gym session- 20 mins rolling on the bike and then a lot of arm/core work with a friend seeing as I can know go at a reasonable time (first day in a year and a half where I was not at work after school- doing 2 days a week instead of 5 so I have more time to revise). Might start doing proper weights more properly now #hench
will run tomorrow

7 PM

running 19:20 [3] 2.33 mi (8:18 / mi)

run over to creasey park

running 57:02 [4] 7.47 mi (7:38 / mi)

Run with Dunstable Road Runners
Was stupidly persuaded to go into the fastest group who said they would do sub-8 min/mile by Rosie. Went from Creasey park, over the downs and over to whipsnade and back via tree cathedral; so a hilly, muddy, windy, wet and hard run! Thoroughly enjoyed it, going at an absolutely crazy pace doing under 7.15min/mile on the flatter parts, and a 6.30min/mile for the last half a mile. Managed to do 6.2miles (10k) in under 48mins which I'm pretty chuffed with seeing as it was so tough and not a race! Glad to see that everyone remembers me as I haven't run with that group in an awful long time!
8 PM

running 21:23 [3] 2.33 mi (9:11 / mi)

Crawl back home..

4 PM

Gym 1:30:00 [3]

was going to go running but thought I'd leave it a day after 12 days of running. recovery on the spin bike and then some core, and then (I couldn't resist) a half hour insanity class (really enjoy it far too much!) also felt a lot easier than last time..
back to school/work/busyness tomorrow:(:(:(

Note

JK overview:
-Sprint went pretty bad, number 2 I mucked up just because I was at 21 thinking it was number 2 and getting really confused until I realised.. then it went absolutely appauling in the open park area, just was thrown by the scale and by not having any buildings to work off. Wasted about 90 seconds in total so I would of never got megs/julies time, just not fit enough yet.
-Middle: Natalie started 2 mins infront and when I got to number 1 she hadn't found it yet so then we practically ran the rest of it together... which I don't know if it was good or bad as we were pushing eachothers paces but mucking up the controls majorly. Number 2 was bad but numbers 3-13 were okay. Then by 14 (we had a big group of us by then) was awful as everyone was put off and I was right near the control but kept getting pulled by the others who were further own the slope, just don't have enough confidence yet to believe that I was right and that the control was close-by. The next few were a little but scrappy.
-Long: Started off very slowly and it was going really well until the long leg. Had caught up Roisin so concentration started drifting towards what she was doing, and the long leg was going well right until the end where I didn't slow down from my attack point and just kept running around in circles looking in every single depression/pit there was. Finally realised I needed to go down the slope a little. Wasted a good 12 mins here.. Going to 8 Sarah and Katie.R caught me up so the rest was with them which gave me slightly more confidence. Wore the cagoule round my waist as I was farr to hot the whole time which was so annoying.
Relay: Womens Short first leg with Maria and Bryony. Absolutely awful, just running around finding every other control bar mine. Was getting confused with all the legs and numbers on the map so kept looking at the wrong number..More disappointed in this performance than any of the others, although maria and bryony had good runs so we finished 3rd. also would have liked to of done a much longer course than 2.7km as it seemed like such a nice area!
Overall I cant be too disappointed- many mistakes were made but nobody had all perfect runs, and my fitness isn't that great yet so couldn't expect too much. I really need to work on confidence as I never think I'm right and see it as luck when I 'come across' a control, something which will hopefully build over the next year or so. Enjoyed it and that's the main thing:)

wales tomorrow:)
11 AM

running 41:37 [3] 4.25 mi (9:48 / mi)

OMG MAJOR DOMS from yesterday, like I could hardly get out of bed and then had to do like half an hour of stretching/rolling to even get moving! (triceps and glutes are the worst, even hurts to sit..)..really surprised I actually got out and did this run actually, 8 x the longer, shallower hill, obv feeling a bit tired but I got it done. Then ran along the top and back home.
5 PM

Gym 25:00 [1]

some core, a bit of stretching and a swim, ohooooo sooo sore

cycle to and from warden hills, needing a drink on the way back
9 AM

running 1:12:33 [3] 8.17 mi (8:53 / mi)

easy over at warden hills. felt crap for the first 3 miles but soon loosened off. felt strong on the hills and im loving how this pace felt easy wooo! very hot
6 PM

Gym 30:00 [4]

Revision break, tried the new 'Insanity' craze going on at the gym, and I can see why people like it, IT WAS AWESOME! only a half hour class but by 10 mins everyone was dripping in sweat!!!!! basically just extreme plyometrics, managed to not stop at all (apart from the power press-ups.. bleurgh). PT who led it was very impressed with my fitness:P I think I need to be careful and not go crazy with it as itll probably get me injured, but I think once a week will be fabby and get me really fit and explosive!! LOVED IT

swimming 15:00 [3]

a quick swim as a cool down

Sunday Apr 13, 2014 #

Note

In London from like 7am to 10pm today so not really a lot of time, watching the marathon!!!!! It was absolutely amazing, ngl I completely got the bug for it and will definitely apply next year to hopefully get a place...will probably make me a cripple for the rest of my life but yolo

Note

Oh and jk wise..seeing as I'm not fit at all (yet!) and lets just say the terrain in Wales is not exactly my forte, I''m not expecting much at all! My aims are a) pick up the right maps (not the W21E map..) b) not miss a control (like in the sprint last year..) and c) not get completely lost for 3 hours or so like I could do...if I do this I will be happy:) (and itll be better than last year)
5 PM

running 57:31 [3] 6.51 mi (8:50 / mi)

From Wood Green station to Alexandra Palace, a few loops around there and then to my nans house.
Was planning to do hill reps up the lovely hill but with it being such a nice day and London being sooooo crowded everywhere the hill was covered with sunbathers so the last thing I wanted to do was run past them like 20 times. So just pretty easy, stopped a few times as you can literally see the whole of London at the top, ran a few extra hills than needed just cos

Saturday Apr 12, 2014 #

orienteering 1:19:53 [3] 6.91 mi (11:34 / mi)

SJES training at Burnham Beeches
3 courses in the morning.. attack points 2.5ish km, route choice, 3.5km and then pick 1.2km.
Was a really helpful session as I had Ruth Holmes shadow me and she made me emphasize traffic lighting quite a lot which I found worked well (running quick to the attack point and then slower and more careful into the control). Obv this area was pretty easy, some vague patches but I may try to use this technique properly more in races!:) (I know it's a standard technique but I didn't fully realise how well it can be used)
Then a very short relay in the afternoon, used the some of the same controls in the morning but we had to look at a maths sum (?) on the control and remember it before adding up with your team mates.
Somehow didn't feel like id run enough, which is weird

running 11:43 [4] 2.02 mi (5:48 / mi)

16x200m with 100m walk recovery on the track
too short for me to do any good, wasn't going any quicker than what I'd be doing for a longer distance. Was very embarrassing as I as by far the slowest in the group and then sprint group was also on the track and I swear they were looking at my pace and laughing
8 PM

9 AM

running 56:48 [3] 5.88 mi (9:40 / mi)

Easy late pre-brekkie jog after a bit of a lie-in with the jk middle map, removing some of the lactic from yesterday ohmygod I could hardly get out of bed
12 PM

Gym 25:00 [2]

quick core and then a 10 minute swim

Tuesday Apr 8, 2014 #

4 PM

running 34:46 [3] 3.88 mi (8:58 / mi)

jog through town to bison hill after work, was tireddddddddd
5 PM

running 25:39 [4] 2.11 mi (12:09 / mi)

Bison Hill reps (next to where the Bison live at Whipsnade zoo!), more commonly known as heart-breaker hill. The hill starts off verrryy steep and then goes into steps and then shallower up to the carpark.. Was very very hard work and after the 3rd one I could hardly run up it, but after the steps it got shallower so it was good to try to keep going after the lactate build up. Did 5 in total, sososo hot! Level 4 intensity as the way back down was a sort of walk as it was too steep for me to run down, I got too scared

running 34:26 [3] 3.88 mi (8:52 / mi)

Back home, apart from dying for a drink felt good

Monday Apr 7, 2014 #

5 PM

Gym 1:10:00 [3]

Very quick intense sesh as soon as I finished work and before I had friends coming over.
45 mins on the spin bike with a warmup, 10x 2minutes hard with 1 mins recovs and then 5x30 secs with 30 secs recovery. Sweated a lot...
then had a random urge to do strength work so did heay weight squats and lunges etc.. Really enjoyed like I used to, I think I tend to work harder and push more when I'm in a rush

Sunday Apr 6, 2014 #

Note

working 7-5 tomorrow and Tuesday:( blahhhh
10 AM

orienteering 1:07:00 [3] 3.91 mi (17:08 / mi)

Cademan Woods middle distance course of 5.1km with 27 controls,.
Nice little technical area although a bit too brambly for my liking, but plenty of rocky features.
picked up the map and was like whhaa, it was pretty cray, took the first few very slowly to try and get used to it. However, my head was never ever in it and I just felt sooo tired, legs just wouldn't move and I just wasn't concentrating/ enjoying it. Went from 3 to 5 and had to go back to 4 and got caught out at the road crossing points. The next lot were okay, I was just very slow. By 17 I had really had enough and walked the rest, still managed to fall over, hit my ass and was stuck on the floor in some brambles for like a minute hahaha. I kept holding the map the wrong way around here too which made it even fabber.
I don't know why I was so tired but I wish I was less so because it would have been great otherwise:(
11 AM

running 25:00 [3] 2.1 mi (11:54 / mi)

pretty short warmup, legs were causing me grief
cool down partly with Julie as she was warming up and then a bit on my own, and then a random jog with Hannah and Julie again when they did their cool down (in my converses...)
5 PM

plyo/core 20:00 [3]

same as yesterday, also did like 20minutes trampolining at the cousins, that's training right?

Saturday Apr 5, 2014 #

plyo/core 20:00 [2]

core 10 easy 10 hard
9 AM

running 21:26 [5] 3.13 mi (6:51 / mi)

Milton Keynes Parkrun
Tried out the mk course around Willen Lake, sooo many people with over 400 running today!!! Went away from Willen Lake and past Gullivers land, up a short windy and steep hill back to the lake. Aiming for under 22 minutes so very happy with this time, although its not quick I am slowly but surely getting there:)

running 55:00 [3] 5.2 mi (10:35 / mi)

Got really lost on the way there with all the confusing roundabouts so an 8 minute warmup, then only had 80p so could only buy an hour car parking, so only did a 5 minute warmdown
I then drove half way home and stopped off at Rushmere, still cant believe how much of a nice area it is! Had to park half a mile away because I had no change and then jogged round some of the area and back to the car. Felt less tired than what I did earlier

Gym 1:00:00 [2]

running 16:13 [3] 2.7 mi (6:00 / mi)

3x (800, 400, 200) with 90 secs, 60 secs and 45 secs rest respectively
Felt very very tough to breath, Gordon thought it may of been the pollution as we were all really struggling. sosososo far behind everyone, I just have no speed in me at all, started off about 20 seconds ahead on the 800m but started with them on the others. Weirdly, I have to admit, enjoyed it
7 AM

running 38:27 [3] 3.82 mi (10:04 / mi)

7 PM

running 35:00 [3] 4.0 mi (8:45 / mi)

because its light we have to do a full lap of the park, 3.13miles so practically 5k in 27mins, then 2.5 laps of the track to warmdown, practically shuffling

Wednesday Apr 2, 2014 #

7 AM

running 52:35 [4] 4.95 mi (10:37 / mi)

Hill reps again, wasn't going to do these but I just about managed to otherwise I don't think I would of gotten out the house.. felt tired even after the 2nd rep on the first hill so was a bit of a struggle throughout. met a dad of someone I used to run with when I was jogging back home so stopped and spoke to him for 5 mins or so. felt better after doing it weirdly
7 PM

plyo/core 20:00 [3]

was sooooososo tempted to go to my towns running club as they will now be going off road since its light until 8ish (probs about 7miles), but I was farr to tired after work, will do it another time. quick core instead

Tuesday Apr 1, 2014 #

7 AM

running 26:14 [3] 2.74 mi (9:34 / mi)

cows got in the way of my normal route so went a different route, legs a bit sore
7 PM

running 37:52 [3] 3.6 mi (10:31 / mi)

warmup and down 2.5 round the field with a few drills

running 24:00 [4] 3.63 mi (6:37 / mi)

moved to Barnfield college fields which is a complete pain to get to from work for me, took me 45mins to get there as I have to go right the way through town and then luton and theres so much traffic at 6...and only 10 to get home.. may not go to this session because of this hmm..
we did 6 x 4 minutes with 90 secs recovery, managed about 4/5ths of the field per rep. legs felt fine whist running but have been rather painful other the past couple of days so will have an easy day tomorrow and see how it goes...felt tired
