Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]

A few of us went to watch the start. Up there Matt Whipple was about to race with his trusty Petzl headtorch which I offered to swap for my spare torch which looked better. Good job I did swap as his torch ran out 5 minutes after the start and his spare was his phone.

Got up at quarter-to-three expecting to run at 3-something. Didn't actually start until 5.15. Had plenty of time to walk to to changeover and back to the camping multiple times.

Orienteering (Harvester Leg 3) 51:30 [3] 6.5 km (7:55 / km) +275m 6:32 / km

Harvester Leg 3 for team UBOC Ridge of Death. Bit disappointed not to get to run in the night. First orienteering in a while. Just kept my head up and followed my compass for the most part. Poor direction out of 2 so was very near the wall on the way to 3. And was a bit scared to drop height on the way to nine. Managed to catch up 10 minutes and a couple of places.
2 PM

Cycle (Kirkstone Pass to Patterd) 15:33 [3] 9.3 km (1:40 / km) +79m 1:36 / km

Thought I would be free-wheeling all the way but it turns out Brothers Water is basically the same level as Ullswater so I had to do some cycling.

Running warm up/down 5:00 [3]

Fell Race (Arnison Dash) 15:14 [3] 2.4 km (6:21 / km) +300m 3:54 / km

Spotted this was on and seemed rude not to have another go this year. A young lad was fast at the start but he didn't walk very fast, Chris Edis then lead for a bit and then he and an Irish guy pulled away. I was third at the top about 30s back. Picked Chris off pretty easy then descended not like a pansy for a change, had to work for it, but got into first in the final field before the show ground.

75s quicker than last year's time (which was at the end of a couple of big days in the hills) but one second off Peter Bray's! Damn!!

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3]

4 PM

Cycle (Glenridding to Kirkstone) 30:28 [3] 10.1 km (3:01 / km) +409m 2:31 / km

After trying to spend a £15 voucher on something useful in Catstye Cam outdoor shop.
